Betrayed and Dumped: She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 282

Stephen squinted. “Aren’t you supposed to be the world’s top hacker? And you can’t even handle this?”

On the other end, a scream practically rattled Stephen’s phone.

“Stephen, have you ever heard of not using a cannon to kill a mosquito? You dragged me out of bed at four in the morning for this? I was having the best dream!”

Stephen held the phone away until the shouting died down. He rubbed his ear, grinning.

“I know you can take care of it. I’ll send the details to your email. Good night.”

But not everyone would be getting a good night’s sleep.

Martha had been on pins and needles all day. She’d managed to talk everyone out of calling the police, but her nerves were still shot.

Now she lay awake in her dorm room, tossing and turning.

She still had all the source code and data she’d stolen from the lab’s server. Well, not on her directly.

Since she’d wiped the system logs off everyone’s computers in the lab, there was nothing to trace back to her. Those people were great at writing code, but when it came to hardware and security, none of them could touch her. That was why Dr. Plamer had picked her for the team in the first place, to fill that gap.

With just a little help from a hacker group overseas, she’d gotten everything she wanted, almost too easily.

But the files felt like a ticking time bomb. Every day she kept them was another day she could get caught.

Thinking about it made her get out of bed. She was just about to contact the overseas hackers to ask them to delete everything when her phone buzzed. It was Sonja.

Martha grabbed her phone and slipped quietly into the hallway, answering in a whisper. “Hey, Sonja.”

Sonja didn’t waste time. “Where’s the source code and data?”

Martha hesitated. “They’re still with the hacker group. I’ll have them wipe everything, no trace. No one will ever know it was us.”
