Chelsey tapped Cindy lightly on the head. “Your brother’s got everything at work under control. You don’t need to stress about it.”

Cindy pouted. “I just want to help you and my brother out, you know?”

Chelsey shot her a look. “If you really want to do something helpful, go find yourself a boyfriend.”

“Why don’t you ever bug my brother about that?” Cindy grumbled.

Chelsey grinned. “He already has someone in his heart. As long as he manages to win her over, that’s enough.”

“Well, I also…” Cindy started, trailing off.

“You also what?” Chelsey pressed.

Cindy’s gaze flicked away. “Nothing.”

She tossed a cushion aside and dashed upstairs.

Chelsey suddenly remembered something she’d forgotten to mention and called out, “Nina wants to meet you tomorrow. So you are having dinner with her tomorrow night.”

Cindy paused at the top of the stairs, puzzled. Jon’s mother wanted to meet her? Was this about her and Jon? The thought made her cheeks flush. But then she remembered how Jon had been swamped with work lately and hadn’t even messaged her in ages. She huffed, annoyed. If he thinks sending Nina to talk for him is enough, he has another thing coming. She’s not forgiving him that easily.

The next morning, Chelsey left early for an appointment. Stephen and Cindy had breakfast together at home while their grandfather called Stephen on video.

“Stephen, Brett’s coming to the office later. I want you to show him around, let him get familiar with everything,” Grandpa said, not bothering with small talk before ending the call.
