The presentation wrapped up quickly.
Rebecca glanced away from the screen and looked down the length of the conference table. “Do you have any questions?”
Mr. Nichols couldn’t hide the admiration in his eyes. He nodded at Rebecca. “That was a really thoughtful proposal.”
Everything she’d presented was exactly what Meridian Tech needed most right now. It was obvious she’d built this product just for them. Like a custom suit, tailored to fit every need.
He hadn’t seen Rebecca in two months, and she’d only gotten better. Her skills had reached a whole new level, and it honestly blew him away.
He couldn’t figure out how NovaStack Cloud’s CEO had let someone like her go. If she worked for him, he’d treat her like royalty and give her whatever she wanted. But that was Rebecca’s business with NovaStack Cloud, not his. She had already asked him privately to keep quiet about her new job, since she hadn’t officially left NovaStack Cloud yet.
Mr. Nichols turned to Scott. “Scott, what do you think?”
Scott was already fidgety, his mind spinning as he tried to find some issue with the proposal. No matter how hard he tried, nothing came to mind.
Then, suddenly, he thought of something.
He cleared his throat and shot Rebecca a sidelong look. “Can you really guarantee your delivery timeline? I heard your delivery team is less than twenty people.”
Rebecca smiled, calm and confident. “That won’t be a problem. As soon as the contract is signed, we’ll start hiring.”
Scott had expected her to say that. He smirked. “But will you have enough time after signing? It takes ages for new hires to get up to speed.”
“We’ve got a solid training program for new people, and I’ll personally keep track of the project. I’ll make sure everything gets delivered on time.”
It was the perfect answer.
Scott was left speechless. He kept racking his brain, desperate to find another weak spot.
Just then, Mr. Nichols spoke up. “Alright, it’s getting late. Let’s end here for today.”
He asked his assistant to see Rebecca and Justin out.
When the meeting room door closed, Mr. Nichols turned to Scott. He picked up his mug, and took a sip. Then, eyes sharp and steady, he watched Scott.
He forwarded a link from a review site. She glanced at the price — two thousand per person. Her eyebrow twitched.
This kid…
Rebecca just smiled and didn’t say anything. She put her phone away and walked toward the parking lot.
She’d just pulled out her keys, about to unlock the car, when a deep, familiar voice called out from behind.
“What a coincidence, running into you here.”
Rebecca turned around.
Not far away, Stephen was leaning against his car. He wore a sharp black suit, one hand in his pocket and a relaxed smile on his face.
“It really is a coincidence. Are you here to meet a client too?” Rebecca asked, genuinely surprised.
There were plenty of companies in the building. Maybe he was there to see someone else.

The ending seems abrupt. Is it like a cliffhanger? I was expecting more. A lot of questions are unanswered....
Why is the story tagged as complete when I think the chapters are incomplete and it hasn’t ended yet?...
