Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 422

“Someone’s going to come in soon. Let go,” Rebecca said, her face flushing as she tried to pry his fingers away.

Stephen didn’t listen. Instead, he spun her around, pressing her gently between himself and the desk. Before she could react, he dipped his head.

Their lips met, soft and sudden.

Rebecca’s eyes flew open, startled by his boldness, and she instinctively pushed at his chest. But Stephen just closed his eyes and held her hands, as if he was completely lost in the moment.

Rebecca tried to fight it, but it was useless. She gave in, letting herself melt into the kiss.

The tension in the study was thickening when, out of nowhere, voices echoed from the hallway.

“I told you to come back ages ago. What took you so long? You ended up getting here the same time as I did.”

“Why’d you get so many groceries? You must be worn out. Haha, you should’ve waited for me so we could go shopping together.”

“Wait for you? If I did that, dinner would never get made.”

Dr. Palmer went silent, wisely taking the bags from his wife and pushing open the door.

In the middle of the living room, Stephen and Rebecca stood side by side, smiling a little too brightly.

Except, they were standing as far apart as possible, like two magnets flipped the wrong way. There was no way anyone would think they were connected.

Dr. Palmer paused, eyeing them. “Why are you two standing so far apart?”

Rebecca’s eyes flickered with guilt. She scratched her head and forced a laugh. “Are we? Haha, maybe your living room is just huge.”

Dr. Palmer glanced at his not-even-forty-square-meter living room and narrowed his eyes at his nephew and his favorite student. Something didn’t add up.

Before he could say more, Liana patted him on the back. “Alright. Come help me in the kitchen.”

Rebecca jumped at the chance. “Liana, let me help. I’m good at cooking.”

Liana waved her off. “You’re a guest. I can’t let you do any work.”

Just like that, Rebecca and Stephen were alone again, sitting at opposite ends of the couch.

Stephen just smiled. “You didn’t have kids yourself, but you want me to hurry up?”

Dr. Palmer’s face was all seriousness. “If you don’t have kids, who’s going to take care of me when I’m old?”

Stephen had no comeback for that.

Liana rolled her eyes and gave Dr. Palmer a gentle smack. “Eat your food and stop nagging.”

Still, Liana couldn’t help but add, “No rush on marriage or kids, but if you meet a good girl, don’t let her slip by. At least start dating.”

“Sure,” Stephen said with a smile.

Liana was genuinely surprised. Usually, Stephen would dodge or ignore any talk about relationships, but today he agreed without hesitation. Did he already have someone in mind?

At that exact moment, under the table, a big hand slid over Rebecca’s wrist, hidden in her lap.

Rebecca nearly jumped out of her seat.
