Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 526

George’s strength gave out, and he nearly toppled over, but Stephen caught him just in time.

“Frank, help Mr. Duncan upstairs,” Stephen said.

George shook his head. “No, I’m fine,” he insisted.

He needed to be here. He had to see for himself why the mother of his great-grandson would go so far as to try to kill someone.

Mr. Keith hesitated, lips pressed together, clearly torn about whether to answer Joan’s question.

“It was my people,” Stephen said, his tone calm as he stepped forward.

Joan slowly lifted her head, her eyes flickering with disbelief, shock, and a touch of self-mockery.

After a long pause, she clenched her jaw. “You had someone following me?”

Stephen nodded. “Yes.”

“When did it start?”

“The day you told me you were pregnant with my child.”

Joan laughed and cried at the same time, her emotions spinning out of control. “So you never trusted me, not even from the start.”

Suddenly her voice turned sharp. “But it doesn’t matter. Attempted murder won’t keep me locked up for long. My son is already part of the Duncan family. That was all I ever wanted.”

Stephen’s lips curled into a cold smile. “You’re wrong. It’s not just attempted murder. You’re also responsible for the deaths of three people.”

Joan’s whole body went stiff, a chill running through her. “What are you talking about?”

Stephen’s voice was calm, but there was no mercy in it. “Colton confessed everything. The kidnapping of my father and uncle was all your idea. Your father, Neil, only went along with it because of your plan. That’s how he and Colton got involved in kidnapping and blackmail.”

The room went silent, the words landing like a bomb and blowing apart whatever peace was left.
