Betrayed and Dumped: She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 57

Lottie nodded, her eyes brimming with tears.

“I’m sorry. I should’ve thought things through. If I hadn’t gone to the restroom, you wouldn’t have gotten dragged into that mess.”

She wiped at her tears, trying to pull herself together. At least Sonja got her.

Lottie shook her head. “It’s fine. He didn’t actually get what he wanted. But… we didn’t manage to sign the contract.”

Sonja reached over to wipe away her tears, not blaming her at all. “It’s okay. We’ll get it signed next time.”

Lottie felt a warmth spread in her chest. Sonja was honestly the best. Even messing up the contract didn’t make her angry.

Once they paid, the two of them headed outside. When they passed the next private room, Sonja stopped.

She turned to Lottie. “Wait for me in the car, okay? I just need to say hi to Mr. Lamont.”

“Oh.” Lottie bit her lip, wishing she could go in too, but since Sonja didn’t mention it, she didn’t want to push.

Inside, the room was huge and buzzing with people. No one even noticed when Sonja slipped inside. She scanned the crowd and spotted Bruce, Paul, and Morris in a corner, each holding a glass of wine. She made her way over.

“Hey, look who it is. Dr. Campbell,” Morris teased, flashing a grin.

Sonja rolled her eyes and smiled. “I keep telling you, just call me Sonja.”

Morris just laughed. “No way. You’ve got the highest degree out of all of us. We have to treat you like a rare treasure.”

Young and already a PhD from a famous university overseas, Sonja’s reputation was basically flawless in their crowd.

Really, only someone as clueless as Brett would break off an engagement with Sonja.

Sonja glanced toward the center of the room. Stephen was surrounded by people, everyone trying to get a moment of his time.

She turned back to her childhood friends. “Did you guys say hi yet?”

Bruce shook his head with a frown. “Not yet.”

They thought it’d be hard to get Stephen’s attention, but as they got close, he turned right to them.

He looked at Bruce, smiling. “Mr. Lamont, nice to meet you.”

Bruce was surprised Stephen even knew who he was. He masked his surprise and raised his glass. “Nice to meet you too, Mr. Duncan.”

Duncan Corporation focused on finance, while NovaStack Cloud did tech for financial companies. If NovaStack Cloud could team up with Duncan Corporation, their growth would explode, and they could go public way sooner.

Bruce had heard rumors that Duncan Corporation had spun off a fintech company.

But honestly, he’d never seen any of their products on the market. Probably not doing too great.

With that in mind, Bruce felt pretty hopeful about a partnership.

He took a chance and started telling Stephen about NovaStack Cloud, pitching their tech and what they could do together.
