Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 662

Logically speaking, people with Lambert's social standing and wealth rarely attend their children's parent-teacher meetings.

But seeing the look on Ariana's face, Lambert twitched his lips and ultimately didn't argue.

Fine, if she wanted him to go, he'd go.

After all, it was his son.

Still... Lambert cast a quiet glance at Ariana's belly before frowning slightly. "Your nutritionist mentioned this pregnancy has been particularly rough on you."

Ariana hummed noncommittally. "It's manageable."

Lambert's expression softened with concern. He stepped closer, gently resting a hand on her abdomen before murmuring, "After this one, we're really done."

Ariana scoffed. "That's what you said last time."

Clearing his throat, Lambert admitted, "I didn't expect another... surprise." Then, pressing a light kiss to the back of her hand, he added, "But don't worry—this time, it's truly impossible. I got a vasectomy right after we found out about this pregnancy."

Ariana had meant it as a joke, but his words caught her off guard.

Studying his face, she realized he wasn't teasing.

In an instant, an indescribable warmth swelled in her chest—something between gratitude and overwhelming emotion. Her voice wavered slightly. "You didn’t have to go that far... We could’ve just, well... been more careful in the future." Her cheeks flushed as she spoke.

Lambert arched a brow. "Even with caution, accidents happen. This way, it's a permanent solution."

Frequent pregnancies took a severe toll on the mother's body.

Especially in such quick succession.

To be honest, Lambert had been plagued by nightmares ever since Ariana became pregnant. In his dreams, something terrible would happen during her delivery—either she'd suffer severe complications that shortened her lifespan, or she'd pass away suddenly in an accident. Each time, he'd jolt awake in a cold sweat, his heart pounding.

At times, he even resented the unborn child in Ariana's belly—his own flesh and blood. If it truly came down to a choice, he'd rather have no children at all, as long as Ariana remained healthy and could grow old by his side. Nothing else mattered to him.

Though Ariana wasn't fully aware of his thoughts, she could sense something was off.

With a soft chuckle, she deliberately changed the subject. "Do you think it'll be a boy or a girl?" she asked playfully, expecting him to answer "girl" as he always did—just so she could feign annoyance and tease him back. That way, the faint melancholy hanging in the air would fade.

But to her surprise, Lambert simply replied, "Either is fine."

Ariana: "..."

Something about him today felt... strange. Did he do something he shouldn't have? she wondered with a huff.

Lambert slowly got up and walked to the wardrobe, pulling out a shirt at random. As he changed, he muttered, "I'm heading to the office—thanks to you and your brilliant ideas. I'll have to work late tonight, or else I won't make it to your precious eldest son's parent-teacher meeting tomorrow."

Ariana crossed her arms. "He's your son too, you know."

Lambert arched a brow. "If he weren't yours, even if he were mine, I wouldn't bother going."

Ariana: "..."

She thought Lambert should probably head to the office soon. If he stayed any longer, her face would surely burn crimson from his relentless flirting. The man seemed to have swallowed a love potion today, showering her with sweet nothings one after another, leaving her utterly defenseless.

...

His status as the heir would surely be stripped away.

And the Harper family would never allow Lucian to become the next successor. The rightful heir would inevitably be the child of Lambert and Irene.

Lambert's lips twitched in irritation. He couldn't be bothered to explain things to his father, so he simply brushed it off with a dismissive, "You're overthinking it. There's nothing between me and Irene from the Harper family." With just a moment's thought, he realized the driver must have reported yesterday's incident to the main household.

Looks like he needed a new driver.

Hugh, however, took his son's response as mere evasion. His temper flared, and he snapped, "I don’t care how many women you have outside, but Ariana’s position is non-negotiable."

Lambert: "..."

This was the first time he'd seen his father so fiercely protective of his daughter-in-law. Amused, he arched an eyebrow and teased, "Seems like Ariana has won Mom and Dad’s approval as the perfect daughter-in-law."

Hugh scoffed.

It wasn’t that he was overly fond of Ariana as a daughter-in-law—it was all about securing Lucian’s future as his cherished grandson.

He also adored Kevin and Carson deeply.

The last thing he wanted was for them to end up with a stepmother at such a young age, suffering under her rule or being overshadowed by her own children, throwing the Stone family into chaos. Before coming here, he and his wife had already agreed—no matter what, Lambert could not divorce Ariana.

Back then, the stubborn brat had insisted on marrying her. Now that he had, he couldn’t just discard her so easily.

Even if he wanted to, Old Mr. Stone would never allow it.

He knew exactly how much Lucian meant to Old Mr. Stone—and the old man had already issued him a stern warning.
