Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 663

Bran's private jet came to a halt on the tarmac.

He glanced around with an indifferent expression. It had been a long time since his last visit to this country, and he had to admit—he rather liked it here. Perhaps it was the Asian heritage in his blood, but something about this Eastern land, though rarely visited, held a special appeal for him.

If it weren't for the fact that the Moore Group was headquartered in Country M, he’d have no choice but to stay there. Who knows? He might have moved here long ago.

His assistant trailed behind him, speaking respectfully, "Boss, the hotel is ready. Would you like to head there first, or...?"

"Drop the luggage at the hotel," Bran replied. "I’m going straight to the Harper Corporation."

The assistant blinked in surprise but nodded quickly.

With bodyguards shadowing Bran’s every step, the assistant had no real concerns. Still, a thought nagged at him—could the rumors be true? Did his boss still have feelings for his ex-wife? Why else would he rush to the Harper Corporation the moment they landed?

The more he considered it, the more convinced he became.

If I run into the former Madam, I’d better treat her with the utmost respect. Who knows? A reconciliation might be just around the corner.*

In the top-floor office of the Harper Corporation, Kendra sat composedly, sorting through a towering stack of documents.

Her eyes skimmed the pages with practiced efficiency—swift, precise, missing nothing. In no time, she had whittled the pile down by more than half.

A few seconds later, a knock sounded at the office door.

Kendra didn't even look up as she said, "Come in."

Her secretary entered with a slight bow. "President, Mr. Moore from Moore Group, has arrived. Would you have time to receive him now?" Though unannounced, the moment the Moore Group was mentioned, the secretary knew better than to delay reporting it.

Forget about the group's formidable and intricate background—just its connection to the Harper Corporation alone warranted her personal attention.

After all, they were the former in-laws of the Harper family!

At the mention of the name, Kendra's brows furrowed slightly, as if lost in thought. After a brief pause, she replied coolly, "Let him in." The thought of Bran inevitably gave her a headache. Not that she disliked him—far from it.

It was what he would inevitably say that she dreaded.

Even before the meeting, she could already predict the conversation that would unfold.

Sure enough, the moment Bran stepped in, he greeted her politely, "President," before softening his tone. "Auntie, Father asked me to send his regards."

Kendra's expression remained indifferent. "Hmm."

Bran couldn't help but let out a bitter chuckle at her unchanging coldness.

If he had a choice, he wouldn’t have relayed his father’s message.

But he had no choice. If he didn’t, his father would be furious. Their relationship wasn’t like that of an ordinary father and son. Bran knew all too well that he was merely an heir groomed by his father—there was hardly any familial warmth between them.

That was why Bran never dared to defy him.

Over the years, Bran had gradually pieced together some of the past—particularly the history between his father and this very "Aunt Kendra."

The details remained unclear, and he didn’t dare pry. All he needed to know was that this was his father’s untouchable sore spot. Truth be told, he wouldn’t have minded if Aunt Kendra became his stepmother. When he was younger, she would always gently pat his head whenever she saw him.

One might say that compared to his father's meager paternal affection, Bran actually received more motherly tenderness from Kendra.

Bran glanced at Aunt Kendra before speaking hesitantly, "Aunt Kendra, my father—" But before he could finish, her icy glare cut him off. "Your father has nothing to do with me," she said coolly. "I have a husband, Bran."

Then again, the Stone family was one of the top conglomerates in the country, so perhaps it wasn’t such a bad match after all.

In the bedroom, Irene stared at her reflection in the mirror, her eyes glinting faintly.

Her expression was icy and unreadable—nothing like the gentle, poised image she presented to others.

The memory of that night, when Lambert had refused to touch her even under the influence of drugs, sent sharp needles of pain through her heart. Was she really that undesirable? Could she not compare to that woman, Ariana? Every time she thought about it, the ache returned.

But it didn’t matter.

She wouldn’t let go. Even if she couldn’t have Lambert in the end, she would make sure no one else could either.

A shadow of cold ruthlessness flickered in her eyes.

Just then, Nathan pushed the door open without warning. Startled, Irene stiffened for a moment, irritation flashing through her—until she saw it was her brother. Suppressing her displeasure, she softened her gaze and smiled warmly. "Big brother, what is it? You didn’t even knock."

Nathan missed the subtle edge in her tone.

Excited, he said, "Irene, guess what? Bran’s already in the country, and his first stop was the Harper Corporation. Mom wants me to host him tomorrow, show him around S City. You should come with us!"

He figured it was best to keep his options open.

If anything went wrong with Lambert, there was always Bran as a backup.

Either way, as long as he maintained good relations with both, his position would be more secure when the time came to inherit the Harper Corporation.
