The night was hushed and still.
A faintly cool breeze drifted in from the balcony, bringing with it a rare sense of peace and tranquility. Ariana sat nearby, her right hand resting beside a portable crib where Grace lay sleeping soundly.
A nanny approached and whispered, "Ma'am, the nights are getting colder now. The young miss might catch a chill out here. Should I take her back inside?" Everyone in the Stone Family household knew how delicate little Grace’s health was, especially the nanny, who was responsible for her daily care.
Ariana snapped out of her daze at the nanny’s reminder.
She glanced down at her daughter, then nodded. "Yes, please take her back. Be gentle—she just fell asleep."
"Of course, Ma'am," the nanny replied.
Since the only occupants of the villa were Ariana and Lambert, and the nannies were highly trained professionals hired directly rather than assigned by the Stone family.
After the nanny carried Grace away, Ariana couldn’t help but frown anxiously. Her mind was consumed with thoughts of Kiara. She had inquired at the school only to learn that Kiara had been missing for days. The realization that she hadn’t noticed Kiara’s disappearance sooner filled her with guilt and regret.
After sitting in silence for another minute or so, Ariana pulled out her phone and dialed the main residence.
Given Kiara’s current situation, there was no way Ariana could stand by and do nothing.
Fortunately, Gracie’s health had been gradually improving. Though she was still much thinner and weaker than other children her age, she was no longer as fragile as a glass doll, the way she had been at birth, when every breath she took seemed to terrify those around her. Ariana explained the situation to the elderly matriarch and mentioned that she might need to send Grace back to the main house for a few days, hoping her grandmother could look after the little girl.
With Lambert out of the country and Ariana unable to split her attention, her top priority was to ensure her youngest daughter’s safety and avoid any further complications.
The matriarch was more than happy to oblige.
Even if her own energy was limited, Jolene currently had plenty of free time at the Stone Family residence. Asking her to look after her own granddaughter was not something she would refuse. So she agreed readily—besides, it had been several days since she’d last seen her little great-granddaughter.
Ariana breathed a sigh of relief, but she still remembered the “potential problem” that was her younger son, so she reminded the elderly lady once more.
The old woman chuckled wryly, though she understood Ariana’s concerns and agreed to everything without hesitation.
Hearing the slight exasperation in her grandmother’s tone, Ariana felt a bit embarrassed, but a heavy weight finally lifted from her heart. As for Kevin and Lucian, Ariana decided to send them back to the main family estate as well. She still didn’t know who was behind Kiara’s kidnapping—whether it was Jane, and if so, what her motive was. If it wasn’t Jane, then what did the perpetrator want?
With so much uncertainty, ensuring her children’s safety was the top priority. And there was no safer place than the Stone family estate.
...
So the next day, Ariana brought her youngest daughter to the Stone Family residence. As for her sons, she instructed the driver that after school ended in the evening, they were not to be brought back to the villa but taken directly to the main family home.
