The Love I Begged For Was Never Real novel Chapter 305

Hearing the word "divorce," Giselle froze in her tracks.

Immediately after, the shock in her eyes was replaced by deep suspicion and wariness.

She looked Nora up and down, clearly refusing to believe that this woman—who had shamelessly clung to Gideon for seven long years and schemed her way into the position of Mrs. Hayes—would give up so easily.

"Divorce?"

Giselle scoffed, her tone dripping with sarcasm.

"Don't play these disgusting little mind games with me, Nora. You even used Silas's will to force his hand so you could marry into the family. Now that Gideon is lying in a hospital bed because of you, you're telling me you want a divorce? Do you think I'm stupid enough to believe that crap?"

"But you better remember what you said today. You better put your money where your mouth is! Don't go running to Silas's grave later to cry and play the victim! If you dare refuse to sign those papers, I have plenty of ways to make sure you and the Xavier family can never show your faces in The Metropolis again!"

Throwing down that vicious threat, Giselle didn't spare Nora another glance.

She turned on her heel and hurried toward the ICU with her bodyguards in tow, entirely unwilling to waste another second on this woman. Her only focus now was her unconscious brother.

Julian trailed at the back of the group.

Just as he was about to turn the corner, he paused, glanced back over his shoulder, and shot Nora a freezing look.

Nora understood immediately.

Julian was warning her not to divorce Gideon at this critical juncture.

He would never allow her to walk away unscathed and ruin the chessboard he had so carefully arranged.

Seeing the undisguised malice in Julian's eyes, Nora lowered her gaze, avoiding his stare.

She was done being a pawn in anyone's game.

Julian withdrew his gaze, instantly slipping his gentle mask back into place as he quickened his pace to catch up with Giselle.

The medical team stood vigil in the resuscitation ward around the clock, evaluating every fluctuation in his vitals in real time, not daring to let their guard down for a second.

Perhaps it was because Gideon had endured grueling physical and survival training since childhood, granting him a constitution far superior to an ordinary man's.

The sheer resilience and muscle memory carved into his bones gave his body astonishing healing capabilities.

After just one day and one night, he was officially out of danger and transferred directly to the VIP suite on the top floor.

The rest was entirely up to his body to slowly recover, simply waiting for him to wake from his deep coma.

As night fell, a fine spring rain began to mist over The Metropolis, leaving winding trails of water down the broad floor-to-ceiling windows of the hospital room.

Giselle had stood guard outside the room all day. Her hysterical crying and extreme anxiety had drained her of every ounce of energy.

Citing that her health couldn't take the strain, Julian coaxed and half-carried her away to get some rest.
