By the windowsill at the corner of the hallway, the ocean breeze fluttered the sheer curtains.
Gideon stopped in his tracks, turning to look at Dr. Scott as his expression reverted to its usual composed, icy demeanor.
"It was just a common chill and fever. Why is her body frail to this extent?"
The attending physician's expression grew solemn as he answered truthfully.
"Mrs. Hayes has been in a prolonged state of malnutrition and extreme mental tension. Her immune system is very weak, so even a slight exposure to cold and dampness can easily trigger a systemic stress response."
The fingers hanging by Gideon's side slowly tightened.
He remained silent for a moment before lifting his gaze.
"Later today, find a time when she's in better spirits, and under the guise of a routine check-up, give her the most comprehensive physical examination possible."
Gideon paused.
"Hand the results directly to me, and to me alone. Do not miss even the slightest abnormality."
Dr. Scott's expression turned serious, and he immediately bowed his head respectfully to comply.
"Understood, Mr. Hayes. I'll arrange for the medical team to prepare the full set of equipment right away."
Gideon returned to the master bedroom.
He walked over to the nightstand, poured a glass of warm water, and inserted a clean straw.
Holding the cup, the man sat on the edge of the bed and guided the straw to Nora's lips.
Nora did not refuse.
She parted her dry, peeling lips, bit the straw, and quietly drank half the glass of warm water.
Gideon set down the glass and went downstairs to fetch a bowl of clear soup.
He scooped up a small spoonful, carefully blew on it near his lips to cool it down, and only after confirming the temperature was right, did he steadily offer it to Nora.
"Eat something." Gideon's gaze was overflowing with tenderness.
Nora turned her face away, burying her cheek into the pillow.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Love I Begged For Was Never Real
Storyline is good..but author is wasting time on character's thoughts.why r u streching chapters it's really really boring and annoying.conversation between them childish.she is only saying him get out n what right do u have ..not telling him what he did to her not questioning him..demanding answer. And what happened to him why sudden change of heart care to explain author.....
For the past few chapters either she is sick or he is. It is slightly boring. Author pls let them talk about the issues , she is not at all scolding him.. every scoldings are playing in her mind only. We want some talk between them....
I am also thinking the same....
Has he mistaken Nora as Giselle?...
What happened to him🤔 did he forget everything?...
Hey can u also upload the book " woke up married to my cheating ex"....
Does he know the orphan girl is actually Nora?...
So is he trying to justify everything? At wat rite??? Wer were he wen she needed him the most.......
Haha finally going to see redemption...
I don’t think reborn will happen in this novel. It will be full of her blood only. Actually The title should be changed to only Nora’s suffering instead the love I begged was never real....
