Gideon repeated the word in a low whisper.
Dr. Scott kept his head bowed, not daring to look at Gideon's expression right now, merely forcing himself to continue the report.
"Yes, Mr. Hayes. Based on the old scar tissue visible on the ultrasound... it must have been quite some time ago. The hemorrhaging was critically dangerous back then, and she received absolutely no effective treatment or rest afterward."
"Mrs. Hayes's body has been in a long-term state of weakness, which is why last night's simple storm triggered such a severe fever..."
The white porcelain bowl the man had just filled with the herbal decoction slipped from his rigid fingers.
With a loud *crash*.
The medicine bowl smashed against the hard floor, shattering into pieces instantly.
The scalding black liquid splattered everywhere, staining the pant legs of Gideon's expensive suit.
Gideon stood frozen in place.
He looked down at the messy scattered shards and the spreading puddle of black liquid, his deep pupils contracting violently.
How could this be?
A sharp, roaring buzz erupted in Gideon's brain.
All surrounding sounds faded away in this moment, leaving only the few sentences Dr. Scott had just spoken circling and amplifying insanely in his mind.
A miscarriage with severe hemorrhaging.
No proper recovery period at all.
Chronic exhaustion and poor circulation.
Gideon felt as if his breathing had been violently cut off.
A heart-wrenching agony tore through his chest, hurting so much he couldn't breathe, hurting so much he felt he was about to lose the strength to even stand.
He had absolutely no idea Nora had ever been pregnant.
He never knew she had once carried a child that belonged to them.
He knew even less that the unborn child had, at some point entirely unknown to him, dissolved into a pool of blood and permanently left this world.
Gideon's hands hung by his sides, his fingers trembling uncontrollably, his vision completely blurred.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Love I Begged For Was Never Real
Storyline is good..but author is wasting time on character's thoughts.why r u streching chapters it's really really boring and annoying.conversation between them childish.she is only saying him get out n what right do u have ..not telling him what he did to her not questioning him..demanding answer. And what happened to him why sudden change of heart care to explain author.....
For the past few chapters either she is sick or he is. It is slightly boring. Author pls let them talk about the issues , she is not at all scolding him.. every scoldings are playing in her mind only. We want some talk between them....
I am also thinking the same....
Has he mistaken Nora as Giselle?...
What happened to him🤔 did he forget everything?...
Hey can u also upload the book " woke up married to my cheating ex"....
Does he know the orphan girl is actually Nora?...
So is he trying to justify everything? At wat rite??? Wer were he wen she needed him the most.......
Haha finally going to see redemption...
I don’t think reborn will happen in this novel. It will be full of her blood only. Actually The title should be changed to only Nora’s suffering instead the love I begged was never real....
