Nathan stopped in front of Nora, looking down at her from his taller height. "I sent you so many messages telling you to come back to the estate and apologize, and you ignored all of them. And now you're here—are you stalking us?"

Nora looked at the familiar face in front of her. She wasn't angry, and she didn't lash out; she just felt a deep, overwhelming exhaustion in her chest.

"I came to buy materials for work. I wasn't stalking you."

Nora's tone was flat, offering no further explanation.

"Buying materials all the way out here?"

Nathan scoffed, completely disbelieving her excuse. "Nora, remember your place. You moving out of the Hayes family has completely humiliated the Xaviers. Now you're out here stalking Giselle—what kind of trick are you trying to pull? I'm warning you, as long as I'm around, don't even think about touching a single hair on Giselle's head!"

Hiding behind Nathan, Giselle gently pulled at his sleeve, putting on a considerate and wronged expression.

"Nathan, don't talk to Nora like that. The mall is so big, she was probably just walking by."

Giselle leaned out from behind Nathan. She looked Nora up and down, taking in her cheap trench coat and makeup-free face. A hidden smirk tugged at her lips before she put on a worried look.

"Nora, are you out shopping alone? Why didn't you even bring an assistant?"

Giselle's voice was soft, laced with just the right amount of pity and grievance. "Gideon has been really worried about you since you left the house. Are you out of money? I still have some allowance on this card, you can take it for emergencies. Stop fighting with Gideon, it's so hard surviving out there all alone."

Saying that, Giselle pulled a black card from her limited-edition purse and offered it to Nora.

Nora stared at the black card held out to her, making no move to take it.

Seeing this, Nathan quickly batted Giselle's hand away and shoved the card back into her purse.
