Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 129

Rebecca drew in a steady breath. “Don’t you dare try to blame this on me. You were the one who cheated. Now you’re trying to twist it all around and make me the bad guy? Bruce, honestly, you’re pathetic.”

She turned to go, but Bruce grabbed her arm again.

His jaw was tight, eyes burning with anger. “I did not cheat. There’s nothing going on between me and Sonja.”

Rebecca raised an eyebrow. “Oh, so you think emotional cheating doesn’t count?”

“I…” Bruce trailed off, lost for words.

Rebecca yanked her arm free. “We’re done, Bruce. Let’s not make this any uglier than it already is. We both work in the same industry. If clients find out you cheat on your girlfriend, do you really think they’ll still want to do business with NovaStack Cloud?”

It sounded like she was giving him advice, but really, it was a warning. If he kept harassing her, she might just let their clients know the truth about their past.

Bruce’s hands curled into fists, his eyes rimmed red with frustration. Was she threatening him? Did she think he didn’t know how to play dirty too?

He took a deep breath. “I’m going to ask you one more time. Are you coming back or not? The penalty for breaking your non-compete is three million. You don’t have that kind of money. You’ll lose everything.”

Rebecca let out a cold laugh. “If you don’t plan on using your ears, maybe you should donate them to someone who needs them. I’ll say it again. I am never coming back.”

Rebecca walked away, leaving Bruce standing there for a long time, completely stunned. His mind was spinning. He just couldn’t figure it out. Didn’t every guy have a past love he couldn’t quite forget? Why couldn’t Rebecca just let it go? Was an emotional affair really such a big deal? He still cared about her. Wasn’t that enough?

She never used to care about this stuff. She’d always been obedient, sweet. Now she was bristling with attitude, impossible to approach. Bruce really didn’t understand when things had changed.

When he finally made it back to the private room, Austin and his secretary had arrived, and the food and drinks were coming in one after another.

Austin was a good guy, but he loved his liquor. He especially loved getting everyone else to drink with him.

“Come on, Rebecca, you have to have a drink with me.” Austin stood up and poured her a full glass.

“In that case, you’re drinking double!” Austin laughed, pouring Bruce another big glass.

Bruce accepted both drinks without hesitation, like he was out to prove something.

Cindy rolled her eyes, muttering under her breath, “Couples who show off like that never last.”

Rebecca pressed her lips together, fighting the urge to laugh. The same guy who was just demanding she come back to him was now playing the perfect boyfriend for another girl. Was Bruce seriously this two-faced?

She couldn’t help remembering the past. Back when she had to wine and dine clients, Bruce never stepped in to help her out. All he ever said was a half-hearted, “Thank you.” And she’d stuck by this jerk for seven years. She wanted to slap herself for her stupidity.

Before she could get lost in her thoughts, Austin was already refilling her glass.

Rebecca barely had time to reach for it when the door swung open. She looked up and saw Stephen standing in the doorway, tall and striking, instantly commanding the room’s attention.
