Betrayed and Dumped: She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 146

Rebecca hadn’t handed over a copy of the contract. That meant they must have swiped it somehow. And stolen documents didn’t count as real evidence.

Sonja raised her eyebrow. “Ms. Duncan, you can’t just say anything that pops into your head. If you don’t have proof, I suggest you watch what you say.”

Cindy clenched her jaw, glaring back.

Rebecca gave her hand a gentle pat. “Relax. It’s fine.”

Then she stood and addressed the arbitrator. “Sir, the documents they brought are genuine. I admit, I did join Sunforge Tech.”

The whole room went quiet. Bruce and Sonja exchanged glances, surprised. Neither of them had expected Rebecca to just admit it like that. Shouldn’t she be wondering how they’d even gotten that contract copy? Every time they’d clashed before, Rebecca had seemed so confident. Now, Sonja started to feel a flicker of worry. Did Rebecca have another trick up her sleeve?

The arbitrator and his assistant looked just as thrown off. Rebecca’s straightforward answer left them both at a loss for a moment. The assistant swallowed, his voice uncertain. “So, with clear evidence, you admit to their claim?”

If Rebecca admitted, that was it. They would just need to talk numbers and settle compensation. The arbitrator glanced at his watch, already thinking he might make it to lunch on time.

But then Rebecca smiled. “The evidence is clear, but I don’t admit to their claim.”

Both the arbitrator and his assistant turned to her, surprised.

Rebecca explained, “They say I’m supposed to follow NovaStack Cloud’s rules after leaving and not work for any competitors. So let me ask, did NovaStack Cloud ever clearly tell me on my last day that my non-compete clause was being activated? Did they pay me the non-compete compensation after I left? I never got any notification, and I never received any payout. So their restrictions don’t hold up.”
