Betrayed and Dumped: She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 168

Cindy’s lips twitched.

“My friendship with Rebecca is one hundred percent pure. Can you stop with the dumb assumptions? Don’t ruin a good friendship just because you don’t get it.”

Stephen grinned. “Come on, you haven’t been with anyone in years. People are bound to wonder.”

Cindy’s hand froze midair, her fork hovering above her plate. Out of nowhere, a familiar face popped into her head. Back when she was younger and a little braver, she’d told him about her feelings. He’d turned her down flat.

Seriously? Why was she even thinking about him now? Just her luck.

Rebecca straightened her clothes, dried her hands, and left the restroom. Right away, she spotted someone she knew. Even though he tried to hide under a baseball cap, she recognized Greg immediately.

Something in her gut told her to follow. She trailed him through a maze of hallways until she saw him slip into a private dining room. About five minutes later, another guy showed up.

Scott. The one who got fired from Meridian Tech.

How did those two even know each other?

Rebecca glanced at her phone. She’d managed to snap a quick photo of them. Maybe it would come in handy later. No harm in saving it.

Since they disappeared into a private room and these rooms were basically soundproof, there was no way to eavesdrop. Rebecca turned around and left, her mind racing.

What was the deal between Greg and Scott?

Then she remembered bumping into Sonja downstairs. She stopped in her tracks. Suddenly, it all clicked.

She picked up her pace, heading straight back to the private room.

Stephen noticed the serious look on her face and couldn’t help but ask, “What’s going on?”

Rebecca set down her fork and told them about seeing Greg. She didn’t stop there—she laid out her theory.

“I think Greg and Scott are working together behind the scenes. They’re leaking company info to Sonja over at NovaStack Cloud.”
