There were a bunch of different hot spring pools here, and Rebecca, worried she’d go the wrong way, had Cindy point her in the right direction. Just like Cindy said, the place was a private resort, so it was quiet, with hardly anyone around. Barely a soul was soaking in the springs.
Rebecca tried to follow the path from memory, but when she reached a fork in the road, she couldn’t remember if she was supposed to go left or right. Whatever, she thought, and picked a direction at random.
Of course, luck wasn’t on her side. She ended up somewhere she definitely wasn’t supposed to be.
Rebecca froze, eyes wide, staring at the man in front of her, who was completely shirtless. At work, he was always in sharp suits and polished shoes, so she never expected her boss to actually look like this. Broad shoulders, a slim waist, defined abs, and the kind of V-line muscles you only ever see on magazine covers. By the time she realized it, her eyes had already taken in more than they probably should have.
Her face burned. She spun around quickly. “Sorry, I went the wrong way…”
Stephen, on the other hand, looked totally calm. His lips pressed together in a small, almost teasing smile.
When Rebecca had walked in, wearing that sexy swimsuit, dark hair falling over her glowing skin, he’d actually forgotten to breathe for a second. Out of courtesy, he’d turned his face away, trying not to stare. He figured Rebecca had just taken a wrong turn, so he picked up a loose robe and draped it over her shoulders without a word.
Then, leaning in, he spoke softly beside her ear. “Take a right and go straight to the end. That’s the pool for you and Cindy.”
His low, gentle voice sent a shiver through Rebecca. Her back went stiff, and her cheeks felt even hotter. She gripped the robe tighter. “Thanks.”
“Um…” Rebecca closed her eyes, her voice barely above a whisper. “I really did get lost. I wasn’t trying to… seduce you.”
Stephen paused for a second, then laughed under his breath. “I know.”
While they were talking, Jon came out from the changing room, surprised to see a girl there. “Who’s this—” Before he could get another word out, Stephen pushed him back inside and closed the door with a quick click.
