Betrayed and Dumped: She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 198

Rebecca felt so awkward she wished she could just disappear. She kept her eyes glued to the floor, and whenever she accidentally met Stephen’s gaze, she’d look away in a flash. Luckily, Stephen didn’t seem bothered at all by what had happened that afternoon. He looked as calm as ever, rolling up his sleeves as he walked out of the kitchen. He glanced at the two girls on the sofa and asked, “What do you want to eat? Jon and I can cook.”

Wait, her boss was offering to cook for her? That felt way too weird.

Rebecca jumped to her feet. “I can cook too. Let me help.”

Stephen shook his head. “It’s fine, really. Just tell us what you like to eat.”

Cindy grinned. “My brother’s actually a great chef. When you study abroad, you pretty much have to learn.”

Rebecca blinked in surprise. She’d always heard that rich kids studying overseas brought their maids and chefs along.

Cindy seemed to pick up on her thoughts. She put her hands on her hips and said proudly, “My brother didn’t bring anyone with him. Grandpa said boys should learn to look after themselves. But me? I was totally spoiled growing up.”

Stephen watched his sister and sighed, a little smile tugging at his lips. “Yeah, yeah, we get it. You’re the pampered princess. So, Princess, what would you like to eat?”

Cindy rattled off two dishes. Rebecca added two more.

Just sitting around was getting dull, so Cindy perked up. “I’m pretty sure there’s a barbecue grill here somewhere. I’m gonna go look for it.”

She actually found it and waved them over. “Let’s grill! There’s a balcony outside. Come on!”

Cindy was full of energy, but the truth was, she’d never touched a grill in her life. Just getting the charcoal started was already making her sweat.

Jon popped his head out of the kitchen, apron on. “Need some help?”

Cindy lifted her chin. “No, I’ve got it.”

Rebecca tugged on Cindy’s sleeve and whispered, “Maybe we should just let Jon help.”

Cindy didn’t answer, but Jon was already there. He set up the charcoal, lit it, and got the grill ready in just a few quick moves.
