Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 219

That night, after making sure her mom was comfortable, Rebecca drove out to meet Cindy for her blind date.

It was a little weird, honestly. The guy had picked a bar for their first meeting. The bass from the speakers rattled the walls, and Rebecca couldn’t help thinking this guy probably wasn’t very serious.

She spotted Cindy tucked into a booth and slid in next to her, glancing around. There’s no sign of any man.

Rebecca asked, “So, where’s your date?”

Cindy shrugged. “He’s running late.”

Was this for real? The guy picked a noisy bar and then couldn’t even show up on time. If this had been Rebecca’s date, she would have left already. But she was here for Cindy, and Cindy had finally worked up the nerve to move on. Rebecca wasn’t about to kill her vibe.

So she poured herself some soda water and settled in to wait.

A little while later, the guy finally strolled in, wearing a big smile and looking way too pleased with himself. “Sorry to keep two beautiful ladies waiting.”

Rebecca gave him a thorough once-over. He was attractive in a generic way, but he had that practiced, too-smooth grin. He looked like the type who’d been around the block way too many times.

This was not going to end well for Cindy.

The guy’s eyes flicked between the two of them. He tried to look charming, but the effect was more cringe than cool. “So, which of you is Ms. Duncan? Don’t tell me, let me guess.”

He snapped his fingers, laying it on thick. “You are elegant, classic, gentle, smart. And you are absolutely gorgeous, full of personality. I bet Ms. Duncan is… you!”

Cindy smirked. “Wrong. Want to try again?”

He rubbed his hands together, looking a little embarrassed but still trying to save this. “Kidding, of course. Everyone in Coralbridge knows Ms. Duncan. You are famous around here.”

Jon never smoked, but before he could think, his hand reached out and took the cigarette. He let her light it for him, watching the smoke curl around his fingers.

The nicotine settled his nerves, but only for a moment.

The girl tried to sit on his lap, pouting his name, but Jon stood up quickly, stubbing out his cigarette. He nodded to the host. “Sorry, something came up. Put everything on my tab tonight.”

The room fell silent, everyone staring as he walked out. The girl he’d left behind bit her lip, looking frustrated and a little hurt.

Guess the stories were true. Jon really didn’t mess around with booze or girls.

Back downstairs, Jon glanced over at the booth where he’d seen Cindy and Rebecca, but they were already gone.

He hurried toward the exit, and there she was, the girl who’d been on his mind all night.
