Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 237

Tears shimmered in Rebecca’s eyes as she squeezed her mother’s hand. “Was it Alan again? Did that old creep come around to bother you?”

Samantha gave a long, weary sigh. Tears started slipping down her cheeks too.

Seeing the two of them deep in conversation, Stephen quietly slipped out of the room and pulled the door shut behind him. Out in the hallway, he pulled out his phone and called Liam. “Cancel my meetings this afternoon. And keep an eye on Sunforge Tech downstairs. If they need anything, have them contact you. Don’t let anyone disturb Rebecca.” He paused for a second. “Yeah, something came up with her family. She’s taking a few days off.”

After he hung up, Stephen made his way to the nurses’ station. He was the kind of handsome that made people stare, and it only took a second for all eyes to land on him as he approached. “Hi, do you have any private rooms available?”

A young nurse blushed and nodded quickly. “Yes, we do. What kind are you looking for?”

“The nicest one you have.”

“Alright. Who is it for?”

“Samantha in 302. How should I pay?”

The nurse remembered the woman who had come in by ambulance earlier and the family member who had just shown up. So he was already taken. Figures. Good-looking guys like that never stayed single for long. They usually got snatched up back in school.

After sorting out the arrangements, Stephen still felt like he hadn’t done enough. He went downstairs and came back a few minutes later carrying a thermos of hot water.

Inside the hospital room, Rebecca and her mom had finished talking. Both of them had red, puffy eyes, and they were a little startled when Stephen walked in.

Samantha leaned back a little and glanced at her daughter. “Who’s this?”

Rebecca stood up to introduce him. “This is my boss, Mr. Duncan. He drove me here this afternoon.”

Stephen set the thermos down and nodded politely at Samantha. “Nice to meet you. I’m Stephen.”

He sounded so modest, but Samantha could tell from the way he carried himself and how he dressed that he wasn’t just anybody. She managed a faint smile. “Thank you for going to all this trouble, Mr. Duncan.”

Just then, a nurse opened the door. “Samantha, someone arranged a VIP room for you. You can pack up and move now.”

Rebecca blinked in confusion. “I didn’t request that. Who did?”

The nurse didn’t even look up. “Your boyfriend. The tall, good-looking one who was just here.”

Stephen.

A strange warmth bloomed in Rebecca’s chest.

From the bed, Samantha let out another sigh. “See? I told you he likes you, and you still don’t believe me.”

Outside, the sky was streaked with sunset colors. Rebecca gazed out the window, her usually calm face tinged with uncertainty.
