“Seriously, what are you all doing here? You can’t even handle a four-hour drill? You’ve got no results at work, and now zero enthusiasm for team building. What a useless bunch!”
Sonja was so mad about losing to Rebecca again that she totally lost her cool. Her usual calm act was gone and the words just spilled out.
The team was already in a bad mood. Now, being called useless sent everyone over the edge.
“Sonja, we’re employees, not your personal servants. How could you talk to us like that?”
“Yeah, we’ve had it with you bosses. First you run us into the ground, now you try to mess with our heads? Give me a break!”
The complaints just kept coming. Bruce tried to step in, but he was way too late.
With a stormy look, he pulled Sonja aside and tried to smooth things over. “Sorry, everyone. Sonja’s having a rough day. Don’t take it to heart.”
He waved them off. “Go back to the hotel and get some rest. We’ll meet up in the conference room later.”
Sonja could not believe he just called her out in front of everyone. Her pride was bruised and she was fuming.
She yanked her hand from Bruce and snapped, “Bruce, are you serious right now? I’m just trying to help you manage your team and you come at me like this?”
Meanwhile, Sunforge Tech’s awards had just wrapped up and people started noticing the argument next door.
Well, well, NovaStack Cloud’s boss and his fiancée are fighting in public.
What a show.
Within seconds, everyone at Sunforge Tech was watching from a distance, eating up the drama.
Cindy was enjoying it too. She nudged Rebecca’s arm. “How long have those two even been together? Already fighting like this?”
Rebecca twisted open her water bottle and took a sip. She just shook her head. “No idea.”
Honestly, she didn’t care about Bruce and Sonja anymore.
She started to walk away and Cindy followed her. “Remember I told you I was planning a big surprise for the Lamont family before the engagement?”
Rebecca glanced over. “You got the evidence?”
The thought hit Bruce so hard he broke out in a cold sweat. He stumbled back a few steps, then turned and hurried toward the hotel.
Sonja was left standing there, alone.
She waited for him to come back and comfort her, and when he didn’t, she stomped her foot, her cheeks burning, and hurried after him. “Bruce, wait up!”
That night, Sunforge Tech hosted a bonfire party. People gathered around, grilling meat and chatting away.
As the night went on, some started dancing and the vibe got more and more lively.
Soon, someone suggested they play a game. They picked the classic, Truth or Dare.
Stephen had changed into a crisp white shirt and black pants. He lounged back in his chair by the fire, legs crossed, looking laid-back and cool.
He acted like he didn’t care about anything, but Liam could see his boss kept glancing over at Ms. Harper.
Rebecca had just finished grilling a skewer and took a big bite of the juicy lamb. Before she could take another, a group called out to her, pulling her into the circle with cheerful shouts.

The ending seems abrupt. Is it like a cliffhanger? I was expecting more. A lot of questions are unanswered....
Why is the story tagged as complete when I think the chapters are incomplete and it hasn’t ended yet?...
