Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 330

Even though Chelsey had been bracing herself, she still felt a jolt of surprise. Apologize to Rebecca face to face? She’d been hoping to send Maggie in her place, maybe with a gift as a peace offering, but her daughter insisted that an apology had to be done in person.

Chelsey hesitated for a moment, then shrugged it off. After all, she was the one at fault. An apology wasn’t the end of the world.

“Alright. You go ahead and set up a time with Rebecca. I’ll apologize to her myself. And tell me, what does she like? Come shopping with me later. We’ll pick out a little gift as my way of saying sorry.”

Cindy’s face lit up. “Yes! Mom, you’re the best! Mwah!” She leaned in and kissed Chelsey on the cheek.

Chelsey couldn’t help but think there was more going on here than just Cindy playing peacemaker. She had a feeling her son was behind this too. Suddenly, she asked, “Did Stephen ask you to talk to me about this?”

Cindy slid closer, nodding. “Yeah, he did. But honestly, Mom, even if he hadn’t, I would’ve done it anyway. I really believe Rebecca’s a great person. Once you spend more time with her, you’ll see how amazing she is. If Stephen actually manages to win her over, that would be the best. You know how long it took him to move on after everything that happened. He’s finally open to starting something new with someone. Isn’t that what you and Grandpa have always hoped for?”

Chelsey’s eyes softened for a second, a flicker of pain passing through her. Cindy was right. It had been five years. Stephen hadn’t been able to let go, not until now. As his mom, she just wanted both her kids to find happiness.

“I was just asking.” Chelsey’s voice faded as something clicked in her mind. She realized she’d missed a key detail. “Wait, are you saying your brother hasn’t even started dating her yet?”

Cindy nodded. “Nope.”

Chelsey rolled her eyes. “He’s hopeless.”

Later that afternoon, the two of them went to the department store to pick out a gift. Cindy was overwhelmed by all the choices and couldn’t decide on anything. Chelsey took one look and made a quick call. “Let’s get her a watch.”

Chelsey let out a silent sigh. Rebecca was a good girl. It was her own fault for being overprotective and jumping to conclusions. She’d completely misunderstood the girl.

Chelsey had never been one for putting on airs, even though she was used to being in charge. Since she’d decided to apologize, she saw no reason to hold back. With her mind made up, she stood up and poured Rebecca a glass of wine herself.

Now Rebecca looked genuinely stunned.

Chelsey lifted her cup. “Ms. Harper, I’d like to apologize to you. It’s my fault last time. I shouldn’t have said those things without knowing the facts. I’m sorry.”

Cindy quickly added, “Rebecca, I’m so sorry too. I only found out recently that my mom came to you and said all those awful things. She didn’t mean it. Someone twisted the truth and misled her. I’m not trying to make excuses for her. She really was in the wrong. But could you maybe forgive her, just this once?”
