Hector let out a heavy sigh. “Do whatever you want. Just remember, the Lamont family can look past a fake diploma or even some schoolyard bullying, but if someone cheats on you, you’d better get to the bottom of it. No man in this family is ever going to put up with that. You hear me?”

Bruce tensed up, like something just dawned on him. He shifted in his seat, squeezing his legs together. “I know, Dad,” he muttered.

The next day, Bruce sent someone to check things out at Paradise himself.

But Adam had already warned everyone. They all acted like they had never even heard of Sonja.

As soon as Bruce’s guy left, Adam grabbed his phone and called Shawn. “Hey, they are gone. We did what you asked. But I don’t get it. Since you already made your move, why not just finish it now?”

Shawn’s plan was supposed to kick off two months from now, but for some reason, he’d moved everything up to yesterday. Luckily, Adam always kept his cool and followed the plan.

On the other end, Shawn paused for a moment. “It’s fine. Moving early gets us the same outcome, but it catches them off guard. It’ll force them to take a big risk. And as for why I’m not finishing it all at once, you probably have some idea. Bruce can’t completely turn against them yet. Gotta wait until the fish is totally hooked, locked in. That’s when the real fireworks start.”

Adam scratched his head. Shawn was getting harder and harder to figure out. He used to be super cautious, always thinking ten steps ahead. Yesterday afternoon, though, he suddenly messaged them to act. Adam actually thought Shawn’s phone had been hacked and double-checked before moving forward.
