Betrayed and Dumped: She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 401

Rebecca got up and walked over to him. As soon as she reached his side, he stretched out his arm and, before she knew it, Rebecca landed right in his lap. His strong legs and the solid feel of muscle under her made her cheeks warm.

He raised an eyebrow, clearly enjoying how red she was turning. “So, are we just going to start the meeting like this?”

Rebecca gave his shoulder a gentle push and whispered, “What else am I supposed to do? This is the office, Stephen. You need to think about your image.”

Stephen brushed her nose with his finger, a teasing smile on his lips. “Yes, ma’am. You’re always so proper.”

He didn’t show any intention of letting her go, though. Instead, he reached over, grabbed the laptop, and placed it in front of them.

“Alright, let’s get started,” he said, like nothing was out of the ordinary.

Rebecca glanced down at the way she was sitting on his laps. “Like this?”

“What’s wrong with it?”

She pressed her lips together. “Honestly, I thought you’d be the type to keep work and personal life totally separate.”

Bruce had always drilled it into her that office romances had to be kept secret. At work, they were supposed to be even more distant than regular colleagues.

Stephen just smiled. “If you don’t like it, I won’t do it again.”

He started to help her off his lap, but Rebecca quickly pressed his hand down, her cheeks turning even redder. “I... I didn’t say I don’t like it.”

He gave her a playful look and tapped her forehead. “So that’s how it is, huh? Playing hard to get?”

Rebecca swatted his shoulder with a laugh. “Can you be serious for once?”

His hand tightened around her waist, and his expression shifted, suddenly focused and clear. “Alright. Let’s do this.”
