Betrayed and Dumped: She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 463

When Brett got the call from Liam saying Stephen wanted to see him, he frowned and checked his calendar. There was nothing. Not a single meeting or reminder.

“Liam, do you know what Mr. Duncan wants with me?”

Liam kept his face blank. “No idea.”

But inside, he was thinking, Man, you are in trouble now. Liam knew exactly how much Stephen cared about Ms. Harper. For Brett to mess with her behind Stephen’s back, that was basically asking for it.

Brett hung up, feeling a headache start to pound behind his eyes. Something was definitely off. Had he done something to piss off Stephen? He straightened his cuffs, took the elevator to the top floor, and knocked on the office door.

“Come in.” Stephen’s voice sounded from inside, deep and steady.

Brett turned the silver handle. The second he opened the door, a heavy folder came flying at him and landed on the carpet right at his feet. If he’d taken one more step, it would have smacked him right in the head.

“Did you even look at this bid proposal yourself? The most important section—the bid price—is wrong. How exactly did you review this? Or have you already gotten lazy after just getting the job?”

Brett didn’t even have a chance to defend himself. Stephen was already laying into him, voice steady but sharp, every word loaded with authority. People in the executive office started glancing over.

Getting chewed out by Stephen in front of everyone made Brett’s face burn. He quickly shut the door, blocking out the stares. He bent down, picked up the folder, and flipped through the proposal. The bid price unit was circled in bright red. It was the wrong unit, not the wrong price. Just a small mistake, nothing serious.
