Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 475

Rebecca didn’t say a word. She just reached into her bag, pulled out a tissue, and gently dabbed the rain from Stephen’s face.

“Rebecca,” Stephen’s voice shook, “there’s nothing going on between me and her, I swear…”

“I believe you.”

Their words tumbled out together, overlapping in the quiet.

Stephen’s eyes suddenly brightened. “You really do? You trust me?”

Rebecca gave him a helpless little smile. “Is it such a bad thing if I trust you? Or would you rather I said I don’t?”

“No, that’s not what I meant.” Stephen grew more flustered, wanting to pull her into a hug but hesitating when he remembered how soaked he was.

Rebecca just sighed. “Forget it. Let’s go to your place first, you need to change into something dry. After that, we can actually sit down and talk.”

Stephen finally felt his tense nerves unwind a bit. The fact that Rebecca was willing to listen meant she genuinely trusted him.

He could finally breathe again.

“My car’s still stuck somewhere in traffic, by the way. Looks like I’ll need you to drive,” Stephen admitted, rubbing his nose in embarrassment.

Rebecca blinked in surprise. “That explains why you’re drenched. You actually walked here?”

Stephen let out a wry msile.

To be honest, he’d run.

Right after the bidding ended, he’d turned on his phone and saw a bunch of missed calls from Rebecca. His gut twisted. She hardly ever called him more than once in a row, so it had to be serious.

He tried calling her back right away, but she didn’t pick up.

Then, on his way back, he hit the worst rush hour traffic. The roads were packed and nothing was moving.

Stephen’s patience thinned with every passing minute. Finally, when they were still two blocks away from the office, he ran out of patience entirely. Much to the shock of the sales director and the two secretaries riding with him, he just opened the car door and sprinted the rest of the way.

Luckily, he’d made it in time.

Rebecca was quiet after hearing all this. She fished out her phone.

Stephen gave her cheek a playful pinch. “Make yourself at home.” He handed her his phone. “Order whatever you want for dinner. I’ll be quick.”

Rebecca stared at the phone in her hand like it might explode.

His personal phone was about as private as it got, and he just handed it over without a second thought?

She hesitated, then set it aside and wandered into the kitchen instead.

Half an hour later, Stephen came downstairs, looking relaxed in fresh clothes.

The moment he hit the bottom step, he caught the smell of something amazing.

“Rebecca, did you make all this?” He stared at the table, stunned by the two dishes and a soup she’d set out.

Rebecca smiled. “You had plenty of stuff in the fridge, so I whipped up a couple of simple dishes. I just hope you like them.”

Stephen pulled out a chair and sat down, inhaling the aroma. “Wow, this smells incredible.” He took a bite, and his eyes lit up. “This is amazing. Seriously, it’s even better than the food at my family’s estate, and they have professional chefs.”
