Betrayed and Dumped: She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 476

Rebecca smiled. “If you like it, have some more.”

Once they finished eating, Stephen got up and started clearing the table without being asked. He loaded the dishes into the dishwasher, wiped down the counters until they were spotless, then came back and sank onto the sofa.

He reached out, pulled Rebecca onto his lap, and settled his chin on her shoulder. He closed his eyes, looking completely at ease. “I can’t wait to marry you. What am I supposed to do with myself until then?”

Rebecca just smiled, saying nothing.

Marriage still felt like something far away. And right now, there was something more urgent hanging between them.

Stephen stayed quiet, waiting for her to answer. When she didn’t, he opened his eyes. “Cindy messaged me. She said…” He trailed off.

Rebecca nodded. “I told Cindy myself. I ran into Joan at the hospital this afternoon when I went to pick up medicine for my mom.”

Stephen frowned. “What did she say to you?”

Rebecca thought for a moment. “Most of it wasn’t important, but right at the end, she said, ‘What if I told you Stephen and I have a child together?’”

“I can’t tell if she meant it or if she just wanted to mess with my head. Maybe she just wants to scare me away.”

Rebecca looked at Stephen, searching his face. “I was wondering… what if she got pregnant without you knowing, went overseas, had the baby, and raised it on her own?”

“No way.” Stephen’s face turned serious, his voice steady. “Rebecca, it’s impossible. We were only together for six months. We never slept together.”

Rebecca blinked, surprised. They really never…?

Then she thought about herself and Bruce. They were together for seven years, and nothing ever happened between them either.

“Rebecca, do you believe me?”

She nodded. “Yeah, I do. But I doubt Joan will let this go.”

If Joan dared to say something so bold, she must already have a backup plan. She wanted to throw them off balance, try to break their trust from the inside.

Stephen’s eyes narrowed, a cold light flickering inside them. “If she wants to play dirty, then I won’t hold back as well.”

Rebecca shook her head, her voice gentle. “Don’t rush into anything. It might be smarter to wait and see what she does, then react.”
