Morris took a small sip of his drink before finally venting. “My mom is getting out of hand. Blind dates used to be every couple of weeks, but now she’s lining one up every other day. I’m seriously losing it.”

Paul grinned. “You could just skip them, you know.”

Morris gave a long sigh. “If I don’t go, she goes full drama queen. Crying, yelling, threatening to do something drastic. It’s exhausting. Doesn’t your family hassle you about this stuff?”

“They tried. I shot them down,” Paul said. He clearly didn’t want to talk about his own love life and switched gears. “By the way, I’ve got a project going that looks promising. If you’re interested, you could invest.”

He gave them a quick rundown. Morris’s eyes lit up. “That sounds solid. Good profits. I’m in.”

Paul looked over at Bruce. “How about you? Want in?”

Bruce paused, then straightened up, his expression skeptical. “You’re being generous all of a sudden?”

Paul shot him a look. “Not everyone’s as petty as you.”

Bruce’s hands curled into fists. “Who are you calling petty?”

Morris jumped in, sliding onto the couch between them. “Guys, come on. We finally get the crew back together and you want to fight? That’s no fun.”

He scratched his head, trying to talk Bruce down. “Bruce, you can’t keep spiraling. You’re turning into a bigger mess than me. Think about Kelley. Come on, man, pull yourself together. It’s just one failure. You’ll bounce back. You know you will.”

Bruce didn’t answer. He just grabbed his wine and knocked back the whole glass.

Morris kept trying. “If you’re strapped for cash, don’t worry. I can lend you some. Pay me back when you’re back on your feet. Sound good?”

Bruce finally turned, looking past Morris at Paul. “Alright. I’ll work with you.”

“Nice.” Paul took out his phone. “I’ll send the project details in the group chat.”
