Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 520

George stood at the door in a sharp, deep blue jacket, leaning on the butler for a bit of support as he greeted the arriving guests. Brett was right there with him, quietly helping out. It was almost eleven by the time Stephen finally showed up. He strode in, late as ever, dressed in a black suit that fit him perfectly. His tie was crisp and his whole look screamed effortless charm and confidence.

George shot him a look. “Your son is the star of the day, and you stroll in after the guests. Really?”

Stephen just smiled. “With you and the butler holding down the fort, I don’t have to worry about anything.”

George grumbled. “You always know how to take the easy way out.”

Stephen took his place next to his grandfather, then glanced at Brett with a little smirk. “Didn’t expect you here so early, Brett.”

Brett dropped his gaze and spoke quietly. “Ben’s part of the family. He’s my nephew. Of course I should be here.”

More guests started to fill up the house. The butler sent someone off to count how many people had arrived. A few minutes later, the staff came back with the numbers.

George looked down the driveway, clearly searching for someone. Then he turned to Stephen. “Where’s your mother and Cindy?”

Stephen hesitated. “They had something else to take care of.”

That pretty much meant they weren’t coming. George thumped his cane on the marble floor. “Ridiculous.”

He let out a heavy sigh, then asked, “What about the Palmer family?”

The Palmers were Stephen’s grandparents and Chelsey’s side of the family. George had sent them an invitation well in advance and even called them himself, but there was still no sign of them.

Stephen paused to think. “Grandpa and Grandma aren’t feeling well enough to make it. My uncle had to be at Larkhaven College today. It’s the first day of the semester and he couldn’t get away.”
