Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 529

Stephen leaned back and said, “Like I told you, you only know part of the story. There’s more you don’t know.”

George paused, his eyes narrowing as he looked Stephen over again. The realization hit, and his voice turned sharp. “So that’s it. You little brat, you figured everything out ages ago. All this today was your plan, wasn’t it?”

Stephen gave a soft cough and just smiled. He didn’t say a word, which was answer enough. George’s temper flared. He tried to raise his cane, but Stephen held it firmly in place.

George’s breathing grew uneven, and he snapped, “No wonder you’ve been standing around like you have nothing to do with any of this. Why didn’t you say something sooner? If you had, I never would have thrown that ridiculous banquet and embarrassed myself in front of everyone.”

Stephen reached over, gently patting the old man’s back. “Please, calm down. When everything’s over, I’ll apologize properly.”

George just gave a gruff, annoyed sound. “Fine. Tell me. What’s the part I don’t know?”

Stephen hesitated, then turned his gaze to Brett. His voice was steady. “The truth is, Ben… Ben is your son with Joan.”

With that, Stephen pulled out two paternity reports from his jacket. One showed him and Ben. The other was Brett and Ben.

Brett’s hands shook as he took the papers. His eyes raced over the results. He went pale, staring at Joan like he’d never seen her before. “What… what is this? How could Ben be my son? We never—”

Suddenly something clicked. The papers crumpled in his fist.

“It was… that night, wasn’t it?”

Joan closed her eyes for a moment. “Yeah. It was.”

Years ago, after George ordered Stephen and Joan to break up, Stephen went to a bar to drink his frustration away. Joan, worried about him, rushed over and sat with him. They drank until closing.
