Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 546

Rebecca remembered right before she lost consciousness, Bruce had jabbed something into her back. It was probably a sedative, enough to knock her out cold.

She felt drained, her whole body heavy as she forced herself to sit up. Ignoring the ache in her limbs, she tossed aside the blanket and got out of bed. Her hands moved over her arms, her torso, her legs, searching for anything wrong. Nothing. She let out a shaky breath. At least Bruce hadn’t done anything to her. Maybe he still had some boundaries.

She took in her surroundings. The room was unfamiliar, decorated in a style she didn’t recognize. It definitely didn’t look like anywhere back home. She didn’t have much time to think about it. As she reached for the door, it swung open from the outside.

Her heart jumped. She automatically stepped back, eyes scanning the sparse room for anything she could use as a weapon. There was nothing. No lamp, no vase, not even a stray book. She backed up until her shoulder hit the wall, watching warily as Bruce stepped inside.

“You’re awake,” he said, his tone almost gentle. “You must be starving. Eat something first.” He set a sandwich on a low table next to the bed.

Rebecca’s voice was tight. “Where are we?”

Bruce’s mouth twitched with a small smile. “Somewhere nobody can bother us,” he said.

He took a step closer. “Rebecca, no one can separate us anymore.”

The way he said it made her skin crawl. She pressed herself tighter into the corner. “Don’t come any closer.”

Her voice shook, but she kept going. “Bruce, we broke up a long time ago. I don’t love you. You don’t love me either. You’re just obsessed because you can’t let go. Please, let me go. I promise, if you let me go, I won’t go to the police. I swear, just let me leave.”

Bruce paused, his eyes narrowing. “Rebecca, it’s true I can’t let go. But it’s not because I don’t love you. It’s because I love you too much.”

He looked almost sorrowful. “I realized too late how much you meant to me. By the time I figured it out, you were already with someone else. But fate gave me another chance. I won’t lose you again. We’re going to be together, just like before.”

Rebecca’s voice was cold and hard. “I stopped loving you a long time ago. Unless you can turn back time, we’ll never go back to how things were.”

No windows. That meant the door was her only shot. She didn’t need to check to know there’d be someone posted outside. How could she get past them?

A thought sparked, and her eyes brightened. She stood up, walked to the door, and pulled it open. Sure enough, a maid was standing there.

The maid smiled at her. “You’re awake. Do you need anything? Mr. Lamont said to let me know if you need help with anything.”

“I need to use the restroom,” she replied.

The maid nodded and pointed down the hall to the left. Rebecca started to walk but glanced back and saw the maid trailing her. She stopped, and the maid quickly explained, “Mr. Lamont said I have to stay with you at all times.”

Rebecca pressed her lips together, swallowing her frustration. Now wasn’t the time to fight. First, she needed to figure out exactly where she was… and find her chance to get out.
