That evening, Carson finally returned to his small room in the villa—a space he hadn’t seen in quite some time.
When Carson laid eyes on his father, Lambert, the latter raised an eyebrow slightly, causing Carson to instinctively shrink back. Fearless as he was toward almost everything, this man—his own father—was the sole exception. Whether it was innate or something else, Carson found him even more intimidating than his great-grandfather.
Ariana shot Lambert a sharp glance, silently warning him not to frighten their son.
Lambert wasn’t one for such petty games anyway.
After all, this was his own flesh and blood. No matter how foolish the boy might seem, he was stuck with him. Dismissing the thought, Lambert took Ariana’s hand and led her to their bedroom.
Once inside, a faint smile touched Lambert’s lips as he reminded her, “Remember that business trip I mentioned a while ago? The one where I went to sign a contract?”
Ariana nodded. “Yes, I remember.”
His smile deepened. “The company we partnered with is the Moore Group, the largest internet conglomerate in M Country. The chairman is turning 54 in two months, and we’ve been invited to his birthday celebration. I’d like you to accompany me.”
Occasions like this were rare.
After all, it involved international connections.
Moore family’s status was extraordinary; from what Lambert had gathered, their influence ran far deeper than what was visible on the surface. Had it not been for this contract, the Stone family would likely never have had the chance to engage with an entity like Moores.
The guest list for the event was extensive. Ariana hadn’t attended any banquets in a long time—not since her pregnancy, the troubles with the children, and one thing after another.
But now, their daughter was gradually settling into a more stable routine.
Lambert thought this would be a perfect opportunity to take Ariana abroad—not just for the event, but also for a well-deserved break together.
Of course.
Most importantly, he intended to introduce Ariana as his wife to everyone present. So, this banquet hosted by Moore held a particular significance for Lambert.
"Moore?" Ariana's expression turned complicated as she murmured the name.
Noticing the shift in her demeanor, Lambert immediately frowned, his voice laced with concern. "Yes, Moore. What's wrong?" Almost instantly, his mind flashed back to the time Bran had arranged to meet Ariana.
The smile vanished from his face completely.
Narrowing his eyes, he looked directly at her and asked, "Or did Bran do something to you?" After that incident, Lambert had personally met with Bran.
Bran had claimed his purpose for meeting Ariana was to discuss the matter of her rare blood type. Given his own susceptibility to accidents and the limited supply of Rh-negative blood, he might need her help in the future. That was supposedly his only objective.
Lambert had scoffed at the time.
*Ariana is anemic herself; how could she possibly donate blood to you?* So, he had refused outright.
Bran had simply shrugged and let the matter drop. Since Bran hadn't acted inappropriately and Ariana had seemed her usual self afterward, Lambert had set the issue aside. But now, seeing her unusual reaction to the name Moore, his expression darkened immediately.
Ariana knew Lambert's temperament all too well.
She quickly reassured him, "No, he didn't do anything to me. I was just distracted, thinking about something else."
"Are you sure?" Lambert pressed, his gaze intense.
