Zoey spoke with deliberate implication, her gaze toward Ariana tinged with a hint of schadenfreude. It was as if she already knew something the other didn’t.
Ariana’s expression remained unreadable, her tone steady as she replied, “Alright, I’ll keep that in mind.”
Now it was Zoey’s turn to be taken aback. She studied Ariana, expecting at least a flicker of guilt or fear, but found none. A frown creased her brow, though it soon smoothed away as thoughts of Jane surfaced. 'Perhaps Ariana still has no idea what Jane has become,' she mused.
It made sense. Had Jane not appeared before her own eyes, even Zoey would never have believed how far she’d climbed. By some means—Zoey wasn’t sure how—Jane had become the lover of the heir to the Miro Corp. in M Country, and rumor had it she’d even borne him a son. The Miro Corp.’s influence was staggering, beyond anything Zoey could have imagined. So when Jane reappeared, Zoey had been all too eager to latch onto her coattails.
With that thought, she shot another glance at the still-oblivious Ariana, her eyes glinting with a mix of pity and anticipation. 'Little does she know,' Zoey thought smugly, 'that the very Jane she drove from home and framed for prison has made a stunning comeback.' What a pity. The Stone Corporation, formidable as it was in B City, stood no chance against a global powerhouse like the Miro Corp.
This reasoning seemed to restore her equilibrium, and the tension in Zoey’s face eased. She offered Ariana a thin smile before turning to leave.
Once the “old hag” was finally gone, Carson quickly blinked up at his mother. “Mom, call the server back! We’re ready to order!” He then cast a fleeting, dismissive glance in the direction Zoey had departed, a subtle scoff lingering at the corners of his eyes.
How could someone that ugly be Mom's sister?
Shouldn't she be pretty like Aunt Kiara? That woman must be a fake aunt.
Ariana nodded slightly and signaled the waiter, who had discreetly stepped away earlier, to return. Carson eagerly resumed ordering, while Kevin seemed distracted. He glanced at Ariana and asked, "Mom, doesn’t that aunt like you?"
Ariana was genuinely surprised.
She chuckled softly, "What makes you say that?"
Kevin replied with a serious expression, "Because the way she looked at you felt really uncomfortable—nothing like Aunt Kiara. Mom, you should be careful around her." Although he didn’t fully understand the meaning behind the so-called aunt’s words, he could sense the disdain and ill intent in her tone. It was better to keep a distance from people like that. Kevin’s intuition had never been wrong.
So he was convinced it wasn’t wrong this time either.
Lucian, who rarely agreed with others, also nodded and chimed in, "I don’t like that aunt either."
"Alright, that’s enough. Focus on ordering your food. Mom will handle the rest," Ariana said with a gentle smile. She didn’t dismiss them by saying things like, 'You’re just kids, stay out of this.' On the contrary, she was pleased to see them thinking critically.
After all, from the moment they were born, they were destined for extraordinary lives. Managing a conglomerate was no different from governing a "nation"—it required immense decision-making skills. One misstep could lead to total failure, and the entire Mu empire would be at stake.
So, nurturing their ability to think independently from a young age was something Ariana wholeheartedly supported.

Meanwhile, on the other side.
