Julian's gaze landed on Nora, carrying blatant mockery.
"You've sat in the position of Mrs. Hayes for three whole years. Yet in these three years, you haven't even figured out Giselle's daily preferences and taboos when it comes to accessories."
"If you don't know Giselle's preferences, wouldn't Gideon know? Or are you telling me he didn't give you any suggestions for revisions when he looked at this draft?"
Nora lowered her eyes.
Gideon had given them.
For the sake of this draft, Gideon had lowered his arrogant posture and, in an unprecedented move, stepped into her study carrying a bowl of bird's nest soup.
Not only did he offer suggestions, but he even personally pointed out the areas that needed modification, forcing her to compromise.
She just didn't want to listen.
She never wanted to hear another word from Gideon's mouth about Giselle's preferences. Those words, full of blatant favoritism and defense, only made her feel utterly sick.
In this world, there was nothing more absurd than listening to your own husband teach you how to please another woman.
Seeing Nora maintain her silence, Julian took this silent resistance as a tacit admission.
He relaxed his body, leaning back against the chair, and began to indirectly probe into Nora's marriage.
"Nora, I've actually always admired your endurance. Everyone in our circle has seen exactly how Gideon has treated you over the past three years."
"The fact that you've managed to stubbornly endure in this nominal position of Mrs. Hayes until now is truly impressive."
Julian smiled as he looked at Nora, the light behind his glasses flickering uncertainly.
Julian walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window, looking down at the bustling traffic of The Metropolis, and regardless of whether Nora wanted to listen, he began recounting the past on his own.
"Actually, Giselle was very clingy with me when she was little."
Julian's eyes grew hazy, as if lost in some sweet memory.
"Back then, Silas Hayes was strict, and Gideon was at the company for meetings every day, leaving no one in the old estate to play with her. She looked forward to my visits every single day. She would wear pretty little dresses, tie her hair in two braids, and run to the main gate to greet me. The moment I arrived, she would sweetly call my name and pester me to bring her treats."
"Gideon always thought he could isolate everyone using power. He used every trick in the book to force me out of the country back then, thinking it would make him the only person in Giselle's world."
"Too bad he miscalculated."
Julian turned his head, his pupils behind the gold-rimmed glasses locking dead onto Nora, the madness within them fully exposed.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Love I Begged For Was Never Real
Storyline is good..but author is wasting time on character's thoughts.why r u streching chapters it's really really boring and annoying.conversation between them childish.she is only saying him get out n what right do u have ..not telling him what he did to her not questioning him..demanding answer. And what happened to him why sudden change of heart care to explain author.....
For the past few chapters either she is sick or he is. It is slightly boring. Author pls let them talk about the issues , she is not at all scolding him.. every scoldings are playing in her mind only. We want some talk between them....
I am also thinking the same....
Has he mistaken Nora as Giselle?...
What happened to him🤔 did he forget everything?...
Hey can u also upload the book " woke up married to my cheating ex"....
Does he know the orphan girl is actually Nora?...
So is he trying to justify everything? At wat rite??? Wer were he wen she needed him the most.......
Haha finally going to see redemption...
I don’t think reborn will happen in this novel. It will be full of her blood only. Actually The title should be changed to only Nora’s suffering instead the love I begged was never real....
