The Love I Begged For Was Never Real novel Chapter 245

Gideon's sanity had been completely incinerated by his rage.

Julian's sickening taunts were the only things echoing in his skull. He had no idea who had just grabbed him, assuming it was just another bodyguard trying to interfere. Without thinking, he violently swung his arm to shake them off.

The massive force of the blow sent Nora flying backward. Losing her balance completely, she stumbled like a broken doll before crashing heavily into the unforgiving dirt.

The jagged gravel immediately tore the skin off her palms, bright blood welling up instantly to stain the dust.

Ignoring the blinding sting, she forced her head up, her vision blurring as she stared at Gideon's broad, unyielding back.

He hadn't even looked back. He just raised his fist to deliver another crushing blow. He had absolutely no idea that the person he had just callously thrown into the dirt was his own wife.

She stared blankly at her torn, bleeding palms. The physical burning was sharp, but it couldn't mask the suffocating wave of despair completely crushing her chest.

Before she could even process what had just happened, tears spilled over, dropping heavily onto her bruised and bloodied hands.

Just as Gideon drew his arm back for the final strike, a piercing scream shattered the suffocating tension over the field.

"What are you doing! Stop it!"

The two men froze instantly.

Gideon's raised fist stopped dead in mid-air, the knuckles still smeared with Julian's blood.

His chest heaving violently, he turned his head toward the scream.

Giselle had already changed out of her riding gear, wearing her usual delicate white French dress. Gripping the skirt, she ran frantically down the corridor in her round-toe shoes.

Julian leaned in slightly, his voice dropping into a sick, triumphant whisper meant only for him.

"Giselle is watching you."

"The longer you sit on that throne, the more you try to control her like a patriarch, the more she'll run right to me. The only thing you can do right now is let me go like a good boy, go back to your mansion, and play house with your wife. You can't do a damn thing about this."

Gideon's clenched fist began to tremble uncontrollably. The explosive, violent energy that had fueled him just seconds ago instantly drained out of him under Giselle's hateful stare, like a punctured balloon.

He was terrified that his blood-soaked, murderous appearance was scaring her.

Deep down, a pathetic, hidden hope still flickered—hoping she would run over, take out her handkerchief, and gently wipe the blood from his mouth, just like she did every time he got into a fight when they were kids.

The ruined fabric of Julian's jacket slowly slipped from his fingers.
