Mr. Xavier stood up and paced anxiously around the living room.
"Even if we take a massive leap of faith and say it works out, when Gideon wakes up and realizes the Xavier family set him up, will he really let us off the hook?"
"By then, bankruptcy will be the least of our worries. If he's truly enraged, our whole family will go down with him!"
Mrs. Xavier sat on the sofa, her hands twisted tightly together.
Listening to her husband's cowardly words, her eyes hardened. She suddenly stood up, staring straight into Mr. Xavier's panicked eyes.
"There are no 'what ifs'."
Mrs. Xavier gritted her teeth, her voice trembling with extreme tension and resolve.
"I've already looked into it. That drug is colorless and odorless. As long as we spike it into high-proof liquor, he won't notice a thing."
"When the effects kick in, he'll just think he drank too much at the dinner. Nora is his legal wife. Whatever happens between a married couple in a bedroom is perfectly normal. Once the door is locked, who's going to know what really went down in there!"
"Nora went missing when she was little. She's never been close to us in this house, and she's too stubborn. She's suffered so much over three years at the Hayes Manor without ever complaining to us..."
"As long as the deed is done, as long as Nora gets pregnant with a Hayes child... Old Mr. Hayes set the rules, and no matter how furious Gideon is, he would never lay a hand on his own flesh and blood. And he certainly wouldn't be able to mistreat Nora like he used to!"
Mrs. Xavier turned and faced her anxious husband head-on.
"As her mother, I have to help her secure her position. Nora is being foolish by asking for a divorce, and we can't just watch her jump into the fire. Didn't you hear what Gideon said on the phone just now? He personally agreed to come!"
Mrs. Xavier's emotions flared as she tried to use the recent phone call to validate her scheme.
"Don't worry, I've got it all figured out."
"On that day, I'll have someone stall Special Assistant York at the door. I'll personally serve the food and won't let any of the maids interfere. I'll just say it's my way of showing love for my daughter's birthday and that I need to do it myself."
"No matter how guarded Gideon is, he wouldn't refuse a single toast from his elders at his in-laws' house."
"Once they drink the wine and the drug takes effect, I'll arrange for them to rest in Nora's old bedroom on the second floor. I'm having the lock changed tomorrow. I'll lock it from the outside so no one can get in."
"No matter what noises come from inside, even if they try to smash the door down, no one is allowed to go up and unlock it. We won't let them out until the next morning."
"Stop sighing and groaning."
Mrs. Xavier lightly kicked Mr. Xavier's slippers. "Contact your media connections right now. Find a few tight-lipped, reliable paparazzi. Set up cameras at the hidden intersections outside the villa."

The readers' comments on the novel: The Love I Begged For Was Never Real
Storyline is good..but author is wasting time on character's thoughts.why r u streching chapters it's really really boring and annoying.conversation between them childish.she is only saying him get out n what right do u have ..not telling him what he did to her not questioning him..demanding answer. And what happened to him why sudden change of heart care to explain author.....
For the past few chapters either she is sick or he is. It is slightly boring. Author pls let them talk about the issues , she is not at all scolding him.. every scoldings are playing in her mind only. We want some talk between them....
I am also thinking the same....
Has he mistaken Nora as Giselle?...
What happened to him🤔 did he forget everything?...
Hey can u also upload the book " woke up married to my cheating ex"....
Does he know the orphan girl is actually Nora?...
So is he trying to justify everything? At wat rite??? Wer were he wen she needed him the most.......
Haha finally going to see redemption...
I don’t think reborn will happen in this novel. It will be full of her blood only. Actually The title should be changed to only Nora’s suffering instead the love I begged was never real....
