What did the Xavier family want?
Nothing more than some business resources, a little leeway from the Hayes Group on a few projects, throwing a lifeline to their riddled cash flow.
Such things were merely drops from the Hayes family's bucket, perfectly sufficient to satisfy the Xavier appetite, and mere peanuts to him.
Or perhaps they wanted an heir. They wanted Nora to bear a Hayes child, inextricably linking the families, so he would spend more time on Nora in the future.
Thinking about it closely, that didn't actually seem like a bad idea.
When Gideon reached this conclusion in his mind, even he was somewhat surprised.
All his life, he had hated being schemed against. Anyone who dared to tamper with his drinks to control his actions, challenging his authority as the head of the Hayes family, was inevitably kicked entirely out of The Metropolis, vanishing from the business circle without a trace.
But he found himself surprisingly unopposed to the idea of something happening with Nora.
He even found himself faintly craving the slightly cool aura she carried.
Nora was his legally recognized wife, the woman Silas Hayes had personally entrusted to him on his deathbed to care for her entire life.
Having a child with her would add a touch of life to the empty, echoing Hayes Manor.
Then she wouldn't keep thinking about divorce, wouldn't keep drawing designs for others, and wouldn't look at him with those guarded, cold eyes anymore.
Wasn't this what Nora had always wanted anyway?
Didn't she want him, Gideon, want a true husband, and a complete family?
Over the past three years, according to the agreement, they were supposed to fulfill their basic marital duties once a month.
But the number of times he had actually fulfilled them was pathetically low.
Under the eager, anticipating stares of her parents, Gideon slowly raised the glass.
The cold rim of the glass touched his thin lips. The dark red liquid glided down the tilted glass, just about to slip into his mouth.
Suddenly, a flurry of hurried, frantic footsteps echoed from the hallway outside the dining room, thoroughly shattering the deliberately cultivated dead silence in the villa, accompanied by the shouts of the Xavier security guards trying to force a block.
"Special Assistant York, you can't go in! Mr. Hayes is having dinner, and the madam explicitly ordered that no one is to disturb him!"
"Get out of my way!"
Immediately after, the heavy double wooden doors of the dining room were violently shoved open from the outside, slamming with a massive crash.
"Boss!"

The readers' comments on the novel: The Love I Begged For Was Never Real
Storyline is good..but author is wasting time on character's thoughts.why r u streching chapters it's really really boring and annoying.conversation between them childish.she is only saying him get out n what right do u have ..not telling him what he did to her not questioning him..demanding answer. And what happened to him why sudden change of heart care to explain author.....
For the past few chapters either she is sick or he is. It is slightly boring. Author pls let them talk about the issues , she is not at all scolding him.. every scoldings are playing in her mind only. We want some talk between them....
I am also thinking the same....
Has he mistaken Nora as Giselle?...
What happened to him🤔 did he forget everything?...
Hey can u also upload the book " woke up married to my cheating ex"....
Does he know the orphan girl is actually Nora?...
So is he trying to justify everything? At wat rite??? Wer were he wen she needed him the most.......
Haha finally going to see redemption...
I don’t think reborn will happen in this novel. It will be full of her blood only. Actually The title should be changed to only Nora’s suffering instead the love I begged was never real....
