Cindy darted over to Rebecca, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “Come on, you have to check this out!”

“Huh?” Rebecca looked puzzled. “Check what out?”

Cindy pulled up a video on her phone and cranked up the volume. The two of them leaned in, heads almost touching as they watched the screen.

“Sonja! You are a homewrecker! Get out here!”

“You shameless bitch! How dare you go after my boyfriend? You flirt with every guy you see. All the men in Coralbridge are just your backup!”

“Everyone, listen up! This bitch seduced my boyfriend, got him to pull strings for her, and now he’s lost his job and been blacklisted. Meanwhile, she’s living her best life, hiding away like nothing happened!”

“I’m going to rip that pretty face of hers apart, just so you can all see what kind of person you’re really working with!”

The video cut off just as the police showed up and took the furious woman away. The crowd scattered in no time.

Cindy let out a low whistle. “Sonja really is something else, going to such crazy lengths just for a project. What’s even in it for her? Seriously? She must be out of her mind.”

Rebecca stayed quiet for a moment before speaking. “You know, what that woman said in the video might not be true. She could just be angry because Scott got fired.”

“Yeah, that’s possible,” Cindy replied, standing up and stretching. “Honestly, who even knows what’s real? I just like the drama. Makes things less boring around here.”

After Cindy left, Rebecca sat for a while, lost in thought. If Sonja really was like that, what would Bruce do? If he found out his childhood crush wasn’t as perfect as he always believed, he’d probably be crushed. But then again, his heartbreak had nothing to do with her anymore.

Rebecca picked up her office phone and called Justin in, quietly explaining her plan to him.

“Thank you, Bruce,” Sonja choked out, but she knew just saying it wouldn’t be enough. She explained everything that had happened, laying out all the details and even offering to show Bruce her chat history with Scott.

Bruce shook his head. “Sonja, I don’t need to see anything. I trust you, no matter what.”

He clenched his jaw. “I always thought that guy was trouble. The way he looked at you, always staring. He was never up to anything good. And his girlfriend was just dumb. It’s obvious her boyfriend was punching way above his weight. Why would you even bother with him? He’s the one who was dreaming way too big.”

“Don’t worry. The police already took her away. I’ll have our legal team file charges against her for spreading rumors.”

As soon as she heard that, Sonja pulled back a little, wiping her tears away with the back of her hand.

“There’s no need to sue anyone,” she said softly. “Scott lost his job because he was trying to help me. I’ll always owe him for that. I don’t blame his girlfriend for lashing out. She’s just hurt and can’t handle it right now. Let’s just drop the whole thing.”
