Betrayed and Dumped: She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 108

Bruce had been in a bad mood lately, so when he saw Morris drop a message in the group chat about getting drinks, he didn’t even think twice. He grabbed his jacket and headed straight for the bar.

“Well, that was fast. Not busy these days?” Morris teased as soon as Bruce walked in. Morris had barely warmed his seat before Bruce showed up.

Paul arrived a few minutes later.

Morris flagged down a waiter and ordered a few more bottles of wine. When the waiter left, he stretched out his legs and shot Bruce a look. “So, what’s the deal? Still haven’t made up with her?”

Paul glanced over too, waiting for Bruce to answer.

Bruce let out a frustrated sigh, popped open two buttons on his shirt, and grabbed a cigarette, taking a long drag.

“Man, I really didn’t expect her to hold out this long. That’s not easy,” Morris said, looking honestly shocked.

Paul thought back to the last couple times he’d run into Rebecca. She’d been pretty cold to him. Had they really split up?

Paul took a quiet sip of his drink, his thoughts spinning.

“Rebecca’s working at Sunforge Tech now. It’s a Duncan Corporation subsidiary,” Bruce suddenly said.

“What?” Morris and Paul both stared at him, stunned.

Paul frowned, thinking it through. “Sunforge Tech is Duncan’s tech arm. Their business is just like NovaStack Cloud’s. Basically, they’re rivals.”

Bruce just laughed, blowing out smoke, a bitter smile on his face. Then he laid out everything that had happened recently.

Morris was floored. He never expected Rebecca to go that far. She just broke up with Bruce, quit her job, joined the competition and even stole a NovaStack Cloud project? That had to be on purpose.

Morris filled up a glass and handed it to Bruce. “If Rebecca wants to leave, let her go. She’s not worth your time. You’ve got Sonja now, and she’s better than Rebecca in every way. Looks, family, skills, you name it.”

Bruce took the glass without a word and knocked back a big gulp.

He took a deep breath, then let out a cold laugh. “Rebecca’s just making a scene to get my attention. She wants me to notice her, to win me back. Give it some time. She’ll come crawling back soon enough.”

Morris grinned and slapped his thigh. “Exactly. That’s the kind of trick a desperate girl would pull. And when she does come back, don’t go easy on her. You need to teach her a lesson.”

He paused, then asked, “So, what about you and Sonja?”

Bruce replied, “Mrs. Campbell invited me to her place for lobster this weekend. I said yes.”
