"Bruce, trust me. I can get Rebecca back soon." Sonja smiled at him, her eyes warm and confident.
Bruce paused, looking uncertain. "Honestly, it's not like I need her to come back. If you're not comfortable with it..."
"I don't mind." Sonja placed her soft hand over his, her gaze dropping, voice gentle. "It's good for NovaStack Cloud and for you, and that's all that matters to me."
Without another word, Bruce pulled her into his arms. "Sonja, you really are the kindest person I've ever known."
He used to think Rebecca was great too. She was efficient and always did things by the book. But after everything that happened, he realized Rebecca couldn't even compare to Sonja. Rebecca didn't know how to make room for anyone else.
"You said you had a way to get Rebecca back. What is it?" Bruce asked, unable to hide his curiosity.
Sonja slipped out of his arms and handed him her phone, showing the pictures Lottie had sent her.
As Bruce scrolled through, his expression grew darker. Finally, he slammed his fist down on the table, jaw tight and veins popping on his forehead. "Rebecca really crossed the line! She planned this from the start."
Sonja nodded. "We have two pieces of evidence. First, she secretly signed a consulting deal with another company while she was still working for us. That's a direct violation of the executive contract. Second, there's the non-compete agreement."
She smiled a little. "Either one of those could ruin her. But I don't want to go that far. So, we'll take this to Rebecca and negotiate. I bet she'll be the one asking us for a way back."
Bruce was still fuming. "After a stunt like this, even if she begs, I'm not sure I'd let her in. Maybe if she takes a pay cut. Or maybe she needs to make the company ten million for free first."
"Do you want me to keep working on what we discussed last time? I could stir things up a bit more, make people feel the urgency."
Rebecca shook her head. "It’s okay. You did great last week. Leave the rest to me."
After Justin left, Rebecca started drafting an email. Ten minutes later, everyone at Sunforge Tech got a recruitment notice in their inbox. Anyone willing to join the Meridian Tech project would get a twenty percent bump in their performance pay plus double the year-end bonus.
With the New Year and bonuses coming up, the office buzzed with excitement. The delivery team was already on board, thanks to Mitch's earlier persuasion. Now, even those who had hesitated before saw the email and rushed to Justin, eager to sign up.
Justin grinned as he wrote down their names. On the other side of the office, the R&D team stayed unusually quiet. But that silence didn't last long.
