“Hey…” Cindy’s words caught in her throat, her face falling into a dramatic pout. “Fine, fine, I just think you and my brother would make a great couple.”
A great couple?
Rebecca glanced up at the man walking ahead. Stephen was tall, with broad shoulders and long legs, the kind of guy who looked good from any angle.
Once they boarded the plane, Rebecca was about to put her bag away when Cindy rushed over. “Rebecca, can we swap seats? You’ve got the window, and it’s perfect for taking pictures. Please?”
Rebecca couldn’t help but laugh a little. “Sure, it’s fine.”
She grabbed her bag and moved to Cindy’s seat. But as soon as she turned around, she spotted Stephen just across the aisle, already reclining with his eyes closed.
Not this again.
Rebecca shot Cindy a look, but Cindy was already waving her phone, fingers flying over the screen. She showed Rebecca the message: [No, Rebecca, listen, I swear it’s not what it looks like!]
Cindy felt like a guy caught cheating, desperate to explain but making it worse with every word.
[It really wasn’t me! I had no idea my brother was right here! You have to believe me!]
Rebecca pressed her hand to her forehead. What were the odds?
After settling in, Rebecca asked a flight attendant for a blanket, draped it over herself, and tried to get comfortable. But she kept glancing to the left. The man who always looked so composed and distant during the day was sleeping quietly, his long lashes casting soft shadows on his cheeks. He almost looked innocent.
Rebecca caught herself staring and quickly turned away, pressing her cold hands to her cheeks to snap herself out of it. What was she doing? Why was she checking out Stephen?
She turned over, pulled the blanket up to her chin, and shut her eyes.
On her left, just as she drifted off, Stephen opened his eyes for a moment, his gaze gentle as it lingered on her. Then he looked away.
Two hours later, the plane touched down.
Cindy, on the other hand, couldn’t resist a dig. “Yeah, what a coincidence. Someone might think you’re actually following us.”
Bruce’s face turned dark.
Sonja noticed the tension and quickly took Bruce’s arm. “Our car’s here. Please excuse us.”
A minute later, Liam pulled up. The three of them piled into the car and went straight to the hotel.
Rebecca and Cindy shared a suite, while Stephen’s was across the hall. After a quick rest, Rebecca and Cindy left for their meeting.
Today, they were seeing clients at Northbridge Partners, the biggest investment firm in Northgate.
They followed the secretary into the conference room, but the moment they walked in, Rebecca saw Bruce and Sonja sitting at the table.
Rebecca’s eyebrows shot up. Was this really just a coincidence?

The ending seems abrupt. Is it like a cliffhanger? I was expecting more. A lot of questions are unanswered....
Why is the story tagged as complete when I think the chapters are incomplete and it hasn’t ended yet?...
Can't wait for the next update! 😍...
Honestly, Rebecca's mother needs to be called out for pettiness. At the same time, Rebecca needs to explain her work situation to her mother....
