“Rebecca’s heading to arbitration soon. Go with her.”

Cindy replied with a string of question marks. “Didn’t you say you weren’t interested in Rebecca?”

Stephen shot back, “Are relationships all you can ever think about?”

Cindy sent back a bunch of exclamation points. “Fine, I’ll go! Just admit you like her already. You’re so obvious.”

Stephen didn’t answer. He just turned his phone face down on the desk. For some reason, his chest felt tight and unsettled.

Liam stuck his head in the office to remind Stephen the meeting was about to start. Stephen glanced at the schedule. The meeting would run until the end of the day. He frowned, then tossed his phone to Liam.

“If there’s any word from Ms. Harper, let me know right away.”
