He touched the tip of his nose, then looked down, trying to hide a smile.

Rebecca was heading downstairs with the bouquet when she ran into Cindy.

“Whoa, those flowers are gorgeous! Did you get a secret admirer?” Cindy waggled her brows at her, but there was a little pang in her chest. Maybe her brother really didn’t stand a chance after all.

Rebecca grinned. “Nope, they’re from Mr. Duncan. He gave them to me to celebrate the arbitration win.”

Cindy’s eyes instantly sparkled.

Wait, what? Her brother actually gave Rebecca flowers? That guy always acted so reserved, but clearly he couldn’t help himself.

“They’re your favorite, right? Want a few? They’ll look nice in a vase for a couple of days.” Rebecca started to pull a few stems from the bouquet, but Cindy stopped her.

“No way. My brother gave them to you. I’m not gonna take them.” She fluttered her eyelashes, looking innocent, but there was something playful in her tone.

Rebecca didn’t pick up on it, but since Cindy didn’t want the flowers, she let it drop and switched topics.

“The grad school exam is in ten days. Mr. Duncan gave me permission to take time off and study. I’ll be at home starting tomorrow. If anything comes up at work, and it’s not urgent, just wait for me. If it’s urgent, go straight to Mr. Duncan.”

“You’re kidding!” Cindy gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. “Let me guess, this was my brother’s idea, right?”

Rebecca nodded. “Yeah, it was.”

Worried Cindy might read too much into it, Rebecca added, “Mr. Duncan really is a great boss. He always looks out for his employees.”
