Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 156

The three ladies huddled together were all test engineers from the R&D department. Thanks to Greg’s not-so-subtle hints and wildly exaggerated stories, they were absolutely sure Rebecca had only landed her position by cozying up to the right man.

Their jealousy was out of control today. When they saw Rebecca coming downstairs, arms full of fresh flowers, the urge to gossip was impossible to resist.

They all ended up in the restroom, ready to let it all out. But none of them expected Cindy to be there, overhearing everything. Cindy was Mr. Duncan’s little sister, and everyone knew she had a temper. She was the last person anyone wanted to cross.

The three women exchanged awkward looks and edged back.

“We weren’t talking bad about Mr. Duncan,” one of them blurted, her voice shaky.

Cindy just laughed coldly. “Please. Spreading rumors about anyone isn’t okay.”

The women stepped back again, swallowing hard. “We’re not making things up. Everything we said is true.”

Cindy’s laugh was sharp, with no trace of amusement. She grabbed one woman’s arm, squeezing tight. Her gaze was icy. “You sure have a lot to say. Wasn’t it you who claimed Rebecca slept her way to the top? You even said any girl could get my brother if she was shameless enough. You sound so sure. What, were you hiding under his bed, listening in?”

Cindy worked out all the time and was way stronger than she looked. The girl trapped in her grip started crying and begged, “I’m sorry. We shouldn’t have talked about Mr. Duncan and Ms. Harper behind their backs. We messed up. It won’t happen again, I swear.”

“Besides you, who else is spreading this?” Cindy pressed.

“Almost everyone in the company knows,” the woman admitted, voice barely above a whisper.

Cindy’s eyes widened in disbelief. “What? Most people?”

That couldn’t be right. Someone had to be pushing this rumor on purpose.

“Who started it?” Cindy demanded.

“It was… Greg,” the girl finally confessed.

Cindy wasn’t all that surprised. She knew Greg and Rebecca never got along. But she hadn’t expected Greg to go this far. Who said tech guys were straightforward? When it came to their own interests, they could be just as sneaky as anyone else.

Cindy was seething, ready to storm off and confront Greg. But she stopped herself and went to find Rebecca first.

When Rebecca heard what Cindy said, her expression turned cold.

Cindy’s eyes lit up with excitement. “I swear, you sound just like my brother!”

Rebecca paused, looking amused. She rubbed her chin. “Mr. Duncan is so polite and well-mannered. How do you make him sound like some ruthless corporate shark?”

Cindy pretended to cough, nearly choking. “You’re still seeing him through rose-colored glasses. Give it time. You’ll see what he’s really like.”

After leaving Rebecca’s office, Cindy made her way over to Justin’s desk. She spoke a little louder than usual, making sure anyone nearby could hear.

“Next year’s R&D plans are out. We’re focusing on a brand new patent.”

Justin perked up, looking curious. “What patent?”

“It’s called the Automated Interest Rate Curve Model. It’s a total game-changer. You should do some research.”

“Got it!” Justin replied with a grin.

Cindy glanced around. Just as she expected, Greg was listening in, his attention fully locked on their conversation.
