Cindy’s lips curled up; things were happening just as Rebecca had guessed.
Let’s see if the person pulling the strings will take the bait.
Rebecca still held the patent. Even if others found out about it, it wouldn’t matter. No one could buy it from her anyway.

Bruce had been in a terrible mood these past few days, and it showed.
In the private lounge, he knocked back drink after drink. This wasn’t just drinking anymore. He was basically drowning himself in alcohol.
Morris and Paul exchanged glances, choosing to keep quiet.
Everyone had already heard about NovaStack Cloud’s showdown with Rebecca in court, and how Bruce’s side had lost.
Morris sat back with his legs crossed, taking a long drag from his cigarette. “I’ve gotta admit, I didn’t think Rebecca had it in her. She went up against your whole team by herself and actually won.”
Bruce’s face grew even darker after that.
Morris quickly switched gears. “But honestly, Rebecca went way too far. You guys were together for seven years. She couldn’t even give you a little bit of respect? She even kept a backup plan hidden the whole time. That’s just cold.”
“She was just looking out for herself. Can’t really blame her,” Paul said quietly.
“What’s with you? Whose side are you even on?” Morris shot back, glaring at Paul.
Paul just shrugged. “Just being honest.”
While the two of them bickered, neither one noticed Bruce pressing a hand to his stomach, his face twisted in pain.
Not that he seemed to care. He kept pouring himself more drinks.
He used to think Rebecca was only mad, that sooner or later she’d come back to him.
But now, he wasn’t so sure.
When they faced off in court, the way she looked at him was ice cold. There wasn’t even a hint of the girl who used to love him.
Was she really planning to leave him, for good?
Bruce couldn’t get used to it. Not even a little bit.
Every night, he’d lie in bed, completely restless. He couldn’t stop thinking back to all the little moments he’d shared with Rebecca.
Things that used to feel so normal were suddenly bittersweet memories now.
Sometimes, he even wondered… what if Sonja had never come back? Would he and Rebecca already be engaged by now?
But Sonja was his childhood dream. He couldn’t even imagine her never returning.
His mind was a tangled mess of regrets and what-ifs.
