Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 177

Rebecca opened the file and her eyebrows shot up. This guy’s resume was impressive, loaded with top-notch experience and a degree from one of the best computer science schools out there. Talent like his didn’t come around often.

Then she scrolled to his photo and had to pause. He was good-looking, with bold eyebrows and a calm, mature vibe. Honestly, he could give Stephen a run for his money. That thought made her blink. Why was she comparing him to Stephen without even thinking?

Rebecca touched her suddenly warm cheeks and let out a quick laugh at herself. Work and school were her focus right now. As for feelings and romance, she’d decided to keep her distance from them for a while.

Two days later, the candidate showed up at the office for his interview.

“Hi, I’m Jon.”

“Hello, I’m Rebecca.”

They ended up talking in the conference room for more than forty minutes. Conversation flowed easily, but considering this was still a technical role, Rebecca prepared a test and asked him to complete it there and then.

There were five coding questions, all pretty tough. Rebecca had tweaked them after finding them on websites. Jon finished everything in under an hour. When she checked his answers, she couldn’t help but be impressed. The code was clean, neat, and honestly beautiful.

She stood and offered him her hand. “Congratulations, you passed. Can you start tomorrow?”

Tomorrow was the last workday before the New Year holiday, and Rebecca was eager to bring in such a rare talent as soon as possible.

Jon looked a little sheepish. “Sorry, I just got back from the Capital and I need to go home tomorrow.”

Rebecca nodded. That meant he’d start after the holiday.

She walked Jon to the elevator herself. As she turned to head back, she bumped into Mitch, the delivery team leader.

Mitch pushed up his glasses, looking cheerful. “Ms. Harper, was that our new teammate?”

The promise of a big meal lit up Cindy’s eyes. “I want fried chicken, pasta, french fries, meatloaf, milk mudding...”

Rebecca stared at her for a second. She’d meant for Cindy to pick a dish, not recite the whole menu.

They caught each other’s eyes and both burst out laughing.

After work, they headed to the fanciest restaurant nearby. The place was packed with people ready to celebrate the new year. There weren’t any private rooms left, so they had to eat out in the main area. Cindy was so hungry she didn’t care about the crowd. She started ordering as soon as she sat down.

Rebecca grinned. “You go ahead and order. I’m running to the restroom real quick.”

In the restroom, she ran into Lottie.
