Thank god the picture was blurry since it was taken on the top of the floor.
Sonja messaged, [I got a photo of you! Ready to confess yet?]
Morris jumped in. [That girl looks cute, even from the back. She seems kind of familiar though. Paul, do we know her?]
Even Bruce, who almost never commented, said, [If you really like her, give it a shot. Bring her around sometime so we can meet her.]
Morris agreed right away. [Exactly. You have zero experience. We can take a look for you. We’ll know right away if she loves you or if she’s just after your money.]
The group chat was going wild, but Paul just sighed, loosening his collar and feeling annoyed. After a long pause, he replied, but only to Bruce.
[Alright.]
The day after New Year’s, Rebecca finally felt rested. She messaged Judy, [Want to hang out?]
Judy replied in seconds, [Yes!]
They made plans to go hiking. Rebecca headed downstairs to her car, but just as she started the engine, Cindy called.
“Rebecca, come out with me? I’m losing my mind over here.”
“Sure, but I already have plans with someone else. Is it okay if we make it a group of three?”
“Of course it’s fine. Unless your other friend is a guy?”
“No, it’s a girl. She’s younger.”
Once they sorted it out, Rebecca called Judy. When Judy heard another pretty girl was joining, she got even more excited. “I don’t mind at all! Anyone who’s friends with you has to be a good person.”
Rebecca couldn’t help but laugh at her logic.
When she got to the meeting spot, she found Cindy and Judy already there, both with coffee in hand.
“Rebecca, over here!” Judy waved her over.
Judy loved this kind of thing. She grabbed Rebecca’s hand, grinning. “Rebecca, take a picture of me!”
“Sure,” Rebecca said, smiling as she pulled out her phone. Just as she was about to snap the shot, Judy squealed, “Turn on the beauty filter!”
“You already look great. You don’t need it.”
“No, no, turn it on, please?” Judy whined, so Rebecca gave in and bumped up the filter all the way.
Once she finished, she sent the photo to Judy, who edited it even more before forwarding it to Caleb.
Rebecca just shook her head helplessly.
They kept heading up the mountain, but Cindy got tired and needed a break. Rebecca and Judy kept going.
Halfway up, Rebecca finally couldn’t keep it in anymore. She said quietly, “Judy, on Christmas night, I had dinner with Caleb. He told me how he felt about me, but I turned him down.”

The ending seems abrupt. Is it like a cliffhanger? I was expecting more. A lot of questions are unanswered....
Why is the story tagged as complete when I think the chapters are incomplete and it hasn’t ended yet?...
