Betrayed and Dumped: She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 190

After dinner, everyone gathered at the door, saying their goodbyes. Paul finally managed to catch Rebecca before she left.

“Do you need a ride?” he asked.

Rebecca shook her head. “It’s okay. I drove myself.”

She suddenly remembered the scarf she still hadn’t returned to him. Rubbing her temples, she said, “I’ll bring your scarf back next time.”

Paul’s lips curved into a faint smile. “There’s no hurry.”

“Alright, see you.”

“See you.”

As soon as Rebecca walked away, Sonja came over. She glanced at Paul. “What were you and Rebecca talking about?”

Paul’s eyes gave nothing away. “Nothing important.”

He turned and got into his car, pulling away without another word.

Sonja knew Rebecca had once handled the Larson Group project at her old job. Of course Paul would know her. Their conversation must have just been polite small talk. Sonja let out a quiet sigh of relief. She only saw Paul as a friend, but these days she and Rebecca were on opposite sides. As her friend, she needed Paul in her corner.

A week passed. Cindy popped by Rebecca’s office to ask if she had any plans for the weekend, maybe a trip somewhere. Rebecca just smiled. “Nope, I’m staying home.”

“You’re such a homebody!” Cindy teased. “Fine, I’m heading abroad for a few days. I’ll bring you back a present.”

“Thanks.”
