Sonja knew Shawn was always full of surprises. Back when they lived abroad, he was the one who first showed her what the world could really be like.

Shawn smirked. “So, who’s this for? I’m not about to get involved in anything illegal.”

“It’s for me,” she replied.

“You want to use it on Bruce, don’t you?”

Shawn saw right through her. He’d noticed Bruce growing colder toward Sonja, and rumors about the two of them were spreading all over the office. It was obvious she was feeling the pressure.

He let out a short laugh, glancing at Rebecca as she passed by. According to the gossip, Rebecca and Bruce used to be together, until Sonja showed up and ruined things.

A sly smile played on Shawn’s lips. “Is this your last resort? Are you even sure Bruce loves you? Because from what I hear, he still hasn’t gotten over his ex.”

“Shut up!” Sonja snapped, instantly on edge. “Bruce never loved that bitch Rebecca. I’m the only one who matters to him.”

She glared at Shawn, her voice lowering. “Don’t get cocky just because I’m asking you for help. If you don’t come through, I won’t hesitate to go after your sister.”

Right then, Shawn’s phone buzzed with two new messages. He opened them and saw photos of his sister, clearly taken by someone following her.

Sonja’s voice dropped to a chilling whisper. “Your sister’s really pretty, you know. Those two bodyguards I sent are both single. Who knows if they’ll be able to control themselves with a girl like her around.”

Shawn’s hand curled into a fist, his knuckles turning white. “When do you need it?”

“Tonight.”

“Fine.”

He put his phone away just as Rebecca finished her walk and circled back.

“Heading home? Let’s go together,” Shawn said.

They strolled out of the park side by side. As they reached the entrance, Shawn suddenly turned to her.

“Bruce is a jerk. No matter what he says or does, don’t ever go back to him.”

Rebecca blinked, a little surprised. But her face stayed calm.
