Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 249

It just felt so wrong. Bruce reached for Sonja’s hand, his voice soft. “I’m not hungry. Sonja, you’re really good to me.”

She smiled and slipped into his arms, looking up at him, a little shy. “Of course I’m good to you. We’re about to get engaged, right? Soon we’ll be fiancés. We’re supposed to have each other’s backs.”

In her heart, Sonja quietly praised her mom. She knew it was true. Men are always at their weakest when they’re sick. Show them a little warmth and they’ll be forever grateful.

With a sweet smile, she got up and went to the kitchen to pour him some water. After Bruce finished the glass, she took off her coat. “I got all sweaty on the way here. Is it okay if I take a shower at your place?”

Bruce didn’t even hesitate. Of course he didn’t mind.

About ten minutes later, the sound of running water filled the master bathroom. Bruce started feeling strangely hot all over. Through the frosted glass, he could see her graceful silhouette moving around, and his mouth went dry. The water glass on the table was already empty, but the heat low in his belly just wouldn’t go away.

That’s when Sonja walked out, wearing nothing but one of his white dress shirts. She smiled, a little bashful. “I couldn’t find a bathrobe, so I borrowed your shirt. Hope you don’t mind.”

Bruce wiped at the sweat on his forehead, trying to play it cool. “No, of course not.”

Sonja moved closer, her voice playful. “Wow, you’re really sweating. Are you sure you’re not running a fever?” She pressed her soft, cool hand to his forehead, her body practically leaning into his chest.

Bruce’s gaze dropped, taking in her rosy cheeks, the swell of her chest, her bare thighs…

His throat tightened. Instinct took over. He pulled her down onto the bed.

Sonja wrapped her arms around his neck, meeting him halfway, just as eager. But right when things were about to get heated, Bruce suddenly stopped.

Sonja froze, completely thrown off. Bruce closed his eyes and pressed his face into her shoulder, mumbling an apology. “Sorry. I’m just… not feeling well today.”

Sonja snapped out of it and tried to reassure him, though she was really trying to comfort herself. He was sick. It made sense that he couldn’t perform. Still, she couldn’t help but feel a little suspicious.

Sonja scowled. “How am I supposed to marry him after all this?”

Shawn just grinned, confident. “Trust me. The more this happens, the more likely you’ll end up marrying him. Sometimes, a man’s guilt works better than anything else.”

Turns out, he was right. The very next day, Bruce showed up, looking serious, and handed Sonja a little red box.

“Sonja, will you marry me?”

He slid the ring onto her finger, his eyes full of devotion.

Sonja could barely believe it. Just when she thought everything was falling apart, things turned right around. She was one huge step closer to her goal.

Seeing how happy she was, Bruce finally let out a long breath, relieved.
